How many terms will Ocasio Cortez serve until primaried out of Congress?

She’s proven toxic to the Leftists.

HAHAHAHA!!! You people crack me up. She's been amazing for Democrats. She's quickly becoming one of the most popular people in all of Congress, and every time you people try and bash her you make her look even smarter than she already was. That's why you people are freaking out about her, you're terrified of her. She's like a younger more charismatic version of Hillary Clinton, and you know she's going to be browbeating you mercilessly for decades to come.

I put down four terms, but that's only because there's a very good chance she'll run for President at some point in the not too distant future.

She won't. I suspect she'll be a leader for the democratic party - as well as the nation - for a long time to come.

She's inexperienced. She did the right thing by starting out in a lower office (instead of taking a swing at the Presidency in spite of her total lack of government experience). We'll see if her wisdom in process comes to match her zeal. She's smart so I expect so.
She's a sideshow - let's be real.

She's a great advocate for government accountability. Her point that members of Congress were hypocrites to take pay while the government was shutdown really hit home with a lot of people.

Beyond that, she's not really informed about any policy matters enough to be leader. She makes a great landmine for the right-wing though.

I think the left should hold her up as a shining example of everything they hold dear! She is amazing and wonderful and our best hope for a great future! Support her in everything she does!

Re: How many terms will Ocasio Cortez is primaried out of Congress?

She won't get primaried any time soon. Her district loves her. There are tons of insane people out there who actually think the GND is plausible and we can just print the money. She's popular. Some people think she's hot. She's harmless as a congress member. The people she makes look bad won't move against her.

Nonsense. The moves to unseat her in her own district are strong and growing. She's not bringing home the bacon. There are already 7 different Hispanic candidates vying for her seat, four are young women. You don't know her constituency, many who fled leftist nations. She was elected for her ethnicity, not her policies and mouth. She doesn't understand the game, and should pay attention to Chuck who always brought home the bacon to Brooklyn. But she spurns any advice.

The Democrats can ill afford someone who honestly spills the beans on their whacky ideas.

She will serve a long time. She won't be primaried. Voters still vote for who they want and her district eats this kind of stuff up. You could only try primarying her with someone more moderate and that's not what her constituents want. They want socialism.

I know she's not informed in policy matters, and that will of course impede her vision. That's why I'm waiting to see if her wisdom grows to match that vision and her energy. It's too early to say, though I like how her message is pulling the narrative toward areas the country would have been too timid to discuss a year ago.

I understand your point, but we will have to agree to disagree. I don't think she's going anywhere. She has unheard of name recognition and is just batcrap crazy enough to be kept around.

He energy matches her vision. She’s seriously stupid.

Her constituency will make the decision, not the media.

That's right, keep calling her a communist-fascist-baby killing-open border- feminazi- radical, because that tactic worked soooo well for Republicans in purple districts the last election.

You might just talk yourself into the nightmare we live in with Trump, only the other way around.

the only thing worse to these people than President Cortez would be President Pelosi.

Give her time. She's new, and she's hungry.

I approve of the right propping her up.

Polling Shows Ocasio-Cortez’s Rising Fame

They’re hoping to use her to influence those independents in the burbs.

....Republicans on Capitol Hill haven’t made it a secret they’re trying to elevate Ocasio-Cortez, whose office did not comment for the article.

In a December interview with Morning Consult, National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) said people like Ocasio-Cortez help Republicans make a “very sharp contrast” between the two parties, something he said could help the GOP in America’s suburbs, where they lost ground in 2018 amid a 40-seat nationwide loss....

Democrats want to use her to motivate Obama’s constituency.

...Sean McElwee, a liberal activist and co-founder of progressive think tank Data for Progress, said Democratic leaders and candidates hoping to win the party’s nod for president next year would do well to embrace Ocasio-Cortez, a young woman of color – three traits he sees as vital to the future of the Democratic Party

“A lot of the folks we’re having trouble mobilizing, we’re having trouble mobilizing because they don’t think Congress represents them,” he said. “All of the sudden you have a 29-year-old that’s really speaking to them.”..

Yes, so that will kill the bigots.
But I think overall, the meltdown would come with President Pelosi. They've had a long time to build up hate for her.
The Republican fear-mongering concerning Pelosi, Waters, Wasserman-Schultz and their typical targets has nearly vanished. In fact, I think it's even degregated the level of noise that would otherwise be going on against Harris, Klobacher and Warren.

It's been replace almost in full by AOC, Omar and Tlaib.

Meh, the right has a lot of hate. There's enough to spread around to all the women you mentioned. Key word = women.

Time will tell.

Either way, it's fun to see them become so deranged over a woman that's basically Bambi in high heels.

All I want for Christmas is a ticket with both of them on it.

Pelosi belongs in the House doing what she does best.

Baby sitting children.

Be a little more circumspect. There's a little truth to it: She is not toxic to the leftists - in fact she's just what they want. If you mean she's a problem for the Democratic establishment then first, they are not 'leftists' and second she's more of a nuisance to to mainstream, centrist Dems and their donors. She's not going to be 'primaried and defeated quickly' because that's how she got her seat in the first place and her platform is clearly what her constituents want.

I think this 'assessment' is more or less an exercise in projection: the right wing hates her because it needs an enemy (and who better than a young Latin Woman, a hijab-wearing Palestinian and an old Jew right?) and that somehow means everyone has to hate her. Not progressives, that's who elected her; and not really the Dems as a whole who might find her a bit radical but can probably work with her nonetheless.

The part in bold is half true, the establishment doesn't like it when someone pulls the curtain aside, but the 'whacky ideas' are new, and hers, and the progressives and not really owned by all the Dems. If they held the same whacky ideas then the argument that they're against her wouldn't hold up at all: they'd be all for her.

Except you know, an actual progressive that champions their core ideas like Medicare for All, and not a corporatist New Dem who said it would never happen.

Re: How many terms will Ocasio Cortez is primaried out of Congress?

So, would she be paying the 70% tax she wants on the rich? or would that be the typical "not me, them".

I think that applies to whatever you make a year AFTER $10M, so if she ever makes that much then she will. Most of our politicians get rich but MOST of them don’t make over $10M/year.

I think you'll be gravely disappointed if you think she'll move on core policies like MFA, universal college and the like (which the majority of the country strongly supports by the way, and are becoming more, not less popular). Personally I think some of her goals with the GND are more aspirational than practical, but beyond that, I don't see anything about her policies that imply ignorance. If you meant she's relatively uninformed about the litany of existing policies in place, I can see that as she hasn't been in the game nearly long enough to be fully oriented.
