If Elizabeth Warren wins the 2020 election - will you call her our first Native American president?

If Warren wins the election, will you call her our first NA president?

We have found out that Elizabeth Warren -- like most Americans -- has some Native American ancestry in her family generations ago. Does that mean she IS a Native American? If she wins the 2020 election will you call her the first Native American president?

Not until we exhume every single previous President and determine without a doubt none of them have a drop of Native in them.

Then if they all pass the DNA test showing no Native American ancestry and Warren wins, we can call her the first President with Native ancestry.

No. I have more Native blood than she does; enough that sometimes people can tell and sometimes ask me about it... but I still don't refer to myself as Native. I'm not affiliated with a tribe and don't participate in tribal activities... there's more to being a Native than just a little DNA.

She doesn't even claim to be Native American so I am not sure what is the point of this poll.

After this latest stunt, I think she's got the white "progressive" vote locked in, and the rest of the party scratching their heads.

She was labeled "a person of color," Native American and a minority all through her law school years in the 80s. She didn't dispute it that I'm aware of. She also called HERSELF Cherokee Indian in some cookbook she had a part in in the 80s. So, yes, she did claim she was a Native American, not just a European with Native ancestry.

You mean "she doesn't claim to be Native American anymore", right? Because she sure did back when she was trying to make a name for herself.

The whole point of taking this DNA test and trumpeting the results in campaign-style video was to claim that she is. Hence claiming that she passed Trump's million-dollar challenge that she prove she is an "Indian."

Never mind that she never objected when two of her employers listed her as "Native American," never objected when Harvard Law called her their first "woman of color," and called herself a "Cherokee" for Pow Wow Chow.

So yeah, she claims it.

This native american stuff is a bit of a mess for her. Honestly, if she has good policy proposals I'm willing to overlook it.

She never claimed to have a majority American Indian ancestry. That is a lie from the right wing nutjobs as usual.

Ooops... unfortunately Warren claimed to be "native american" and admits it.

“Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren acknowledged for the first time late Wednesday night that she told Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania that she was Native American, but she continued to insist that race played no role in her recruitment."

I thought the results were that she possibly had Native American ancestry and even that possibility was 1 in 1024. Orrin Hatch revealed this morning he had DNA test done and his ancestry shows a possibility of 1 in 1024 that he is a descendant of T-Rex.

If Warren wins the 2020 presidential election, I will call her "President Warren."

Red:
It means she has Native American ancestry. AFAIK, that's the nature of her assertion. Insofar as she's not saying she is a Native American, there's no reason for anyone else to say she is a Native American.

She absolutely made much, much, much more of it than is there. One does not bill oneself as "Native American" unless one is claiming SIGNIFICANT ancestry.

Remember, Trump's challenge was to prove that she "is an Indian," not that she has some miniscule, insignificant distant ancestor. She claims to have won, thus is claiming to be "an Indian."

Maybe. It would be interesting to see how much "Native American" DNA was possessed by past our Presidents. We might well discover that many other past Presidents had far higher percentages of such DNA than Warren did.

Obama did not have majority African decent yet he was correctly called our first black president.

The Cherokee Nation called her out on this today.

If she wins in 2020, we have a hell of a lot worse things to worry about than if she’s a NA or not.

How do you know? Have you seen his DNA? Yeah Obama wasn't black at all. Your comments are just ridiculous right now.

Have you actually taken a DNA test or just listening to family lore? Because it's likely people's DNA is a lot different than they probably think. Even Trump says he has more native DNA than Warren. I am not sure why people are making these declarations and then making fun of Warren. Who really knows their DNA unless it's tested.
