Sexism

Is that statement sexist or not

Neither, it is a very general term. As I have seen my sister use it with her own friends.

Even the urban dictionary list it as a "term of admiration".

I wonder if it isn't a term of suppressed resentment towards other females...

Little boys as well.

I haven't ever used / heard it. I guess some people do say that.

Little boys are usually taught to Man Up and walk it off.

There currently exist no basis for such a stance.

You're also implying that my sister resented all her female friends.

A co-worker said to another, "you're the man" the other day and it struck me how sexist that statement is. Do you agree and if not, why is that statement not sexist.

LOL whats up bodhi hope all is well with you and your girls . .

uhmm anyway . . .not sure how this is sexist and ive heard people say you the woman also since i was about 12 . . . . ;)

Seems to be made up foolishness and nothing more.

77.78 agree it is not sexist!

The only times I have ever heard someone actually saying "man up" was usually in reference to a young boy crying or acting immature so was more of a "grow up" comment rather than a reference to acting feminine.

I am sorry... it didn't really dawn on me that you mentioned your sister. I apologize for making a comment like that.

Depends how it's used. Ironically? Then no.

Never heard of it... and why are we de-feminizing our women with sayings like "man on" in sports?
Women need to get off this pc rhetoric and get a life. They have no problem wanting to turn men into emasculated wimps but a comment like "man on" and they're again victims. Women wear these yoga pants giving all who want to look a view of what only their gynecologist or proctologist would normally see and then they get offended if some dude scopes out the privates. GMAB repeal the 19th.
