I also predict that Congressional Democrats will prove not to have asked for this investigation in good faith, and will spend the next week either promoting more baseless Avenatti-style tabloid (OMG HAVE YOU HEARD THAT KAVANAUGH RAPED MOTHER THERESA!?!) idiocy, Alex-Jones-Esque attempts to demistify a high school calendar, screaming that Kavanaugh is an inhuman monster who is going to put millions of people into Handmaiden Tale outfits and then kill them.....

....and then they will start moving the goalposts again.

I predict someone will claim to be one of the pass-arounds in the sex parties Swetnick claims existed and I think there is an outside chance some 30 something will show up and say she is the daughter of Kavanaugh if the first ploy doesn't work.

Each accusation is getting less believable and more salacious. Let's do this investigation and wrap it up by Thursday. I don't expect to find out anything new and we can finally nominate this guy and move on.

I disagree with many people of the metoo movement and these radical feminists but they at least deserve some sort of investigation. They are Americans too.

I think there are threads to tug on. The Mark Judge character is one. But, I think this is primarily an exercise in appeasement.

Well it certainly isn’t going to prove guilt or innocence. What I personally am looking for is more data points. The FBI will undoubtedly question people from that social circle who didn’t voluntarily come out in support or opposition of the accusations. Those are the people I am the most interested in hearing from. If it turns out they don’t support the claims of the people coming forward then I will be content in knowing that more likely than not Kavanaugh didn’t do those things. I would still oppose his nomination on purely ideological grounds, but not moral grounds. But if several new people upon being approached by law forcement officers admit they saw the same things then I will oppose his appointment on moral grounds and I will forever view him as tarnished.

But that is me. Politicians will be politicians regardless of the outcome.

Do you think Kavanaugh opposes the investigation based upon impatience or fear?

The FBI investigation will be more than kavanaugh- it will include the other 2 women with charges against Kav

Another thing occurred to me cpwill. I will tell you real quick before I leave for the evening.

Kavanaugh told many questionable statements. White lies they may be, but lies nonetheless. If an FBI investigation turns up evidence Renate was used as an emblem of machismo and that Devil's Triangle was not a drinking game, will Kavanaugh be liable for perjury?

I believe Kavanaugh opposes the investigation because he knows (like the rest of us) that it's a stalling tactic.

I think that the FBI will find more women willing to tell stories as they work on the project of becoming heroes in the service of the Failed Intelligentsia!

I predict the results of the FBI investigation will be irrelevant.

Will, I think you missed a choice.

I don't believe the investigation will prove Kavanaugh is guilty of the sexual assault, but it will show he had a drinking problem to the point of passing out, and was nowhere near as innocent as he claimed he was in the Fox News interview. A lot of people will pop out of the woodwork relating that he did a lot of heavy drinking (as a few have already). In a nutshell it will show he has lied about his past, and is not honorable enough to sit on the SCOTUS.

My theory (and I could have this all wrong) is that he did what Ford accused him of, but passed out drunk at some point and he has no memory of it. Hence his indignation about being innocent. The man obviously has a temper above and beyond what is normal, as him losing his cool in a senate hearing to defend his innocense shows a lack of self control. That was the wrong place to lose his cool. And she showed contempt for females by insulting Senator Kobuchar. Add alcohol to a bad temper that and you his accusers testimony becomes believable.

A lot of people just get inebriated when they drink too much. But a few people get downright mean. I believe he is one of them.

I don’t think he has said he opposes the investigation, though he hasn’t directly asked for it either. If he does oppose it I don’t know if it is out of fear but I certainly doubt it is out of impatience.

Hm. It strikes me that is a pretty difficult case to make (you have to show without reasonable doubt what was in someone's head), but yes, if it can be demonstrated to that level that he committed perjury, then he committed perjury. I can think of morally reasonable reasons for him to have done so with the Renate thing (desire to protect her from further shame, the other boys listed, etc.), but having moral desires wouldn't make it not perjury.

But I would expect a good bit more than "Billy Jones, who now works for the DNC, and was 8 years behind Kavanaugh, says it referred to something other than what Kavanaugh described, so obviously it did!".

I think he went to some length to avoid doing either. He wasn't good at it - really, he should have had an answer to that question nailed down - but I think you are correct on this, as near as I can recall.

If you think those are viable expectations, I am afraid you are going to be sorely disappointed. There will be no "guilt" nor "innocence" learned next week. You are likely to more likely to either get some collaboration of facts, witnesses and circumstances set forth by Dr. Ford, or some statement that they can not collaborate any element of her allegations. Neither will be proof of anything, but at least the diligence work would have been done.

What is highly probable, is that we may learn that Kavanaugh was a big drinker known for being drunk and maybe aggressive or obnoxious. That would be in contrast to his evolving testimony that began pitching himself as a choirboy and ending with he did like beer. That could be construed as he lied to Congress.

Congress can then decide what to do with that information.

I agree, he wasn’t good at it. In the clip posted below he handles something that should be an easy question (if he prepared appropriately) in an extremely poor way. He sounds like a dyed in the wool politician, which isn’t something most people want in a SCOTUS Justice.

I think he was coached to avoid saying he would be open to an investigation especially since there was a lot of pressure to push the nomination through. Just a guess of course.

If you can do words and arguments feel free to lay some on me.

Who knows, you might learn something!

I don't waste words on silly conspiracy theories. I stopped doing that in 8th grade.
