Will Judge Kavanaugh be confirmed?

Will Judge Kavanaugh be confirmed?

Me I am thinking of Collins/Murkowski - then possibly Flake who held it up in Committee pending Prof Fords testimony.
They're voting at 9:30A. I think that may signal he's passed committee.

Yes, and the Repubs will pay in political blood in November.

That assumes that women all think alike. Women are smarter than liberals think. They can see when a guy is being railroaded.

Ehhh. Flake's finished with GOP politics. Doesn't mean he's willing to stand in the way of a key conservative appointment to the high court, even if that means turning a blind eye to serious sexual assault allegations.

I think the Democrats really shat the bed in questioning Kavanaugh. And then I saw Leahy toddling down the hall complaining about the GOP's treatment of Garland and how the GOP is going to do what they're going to do no matter what.

Completely impotent.
Yep, for the most part Dems were weak. I'm no fan of Graham's theatrics, but I suspect they'll be effective enough. And Kavanaugh was strong enough when he had to, and evasive when he had to. Then Sen Cassidy closed wit he & Kavanaugh "swearing to God", which surely pulls strongly with the GOP base.

Well if confirmed he will have more of a cloud than Thomas ever had. His rulings will be also looked using the prism of the allegations.
After calling the Dems 'cons', how the hell can he remain impartial when a Dem Party case comes before him? Or a sexual harassment case?

hes getting confirmed and as I stated here a few days ago. Ill be here gloating about it.

Durbin held his feet to the fire- and left K at one point paused and without words to speak - In steps Grassley and Graham to plug that hole

Yes. I think Kavanaughs only weak point was on the issue of an FBI investigation. Other than that, dems didnt lay a glove on him and at times looked foolish.

Ford was far more credible than I thought she would be, but Kavanaugh was every bit as believable. There just isnt enough evidence to keep the guy off the court.

The reason why trump picked Kavanaugh was because he showed a bias. That is the whole point.

Feinstein needs to resign. Shes a traitor to democracy.

FYI - A majority of Republican women support Kavanaugh, I think it's just over 60%.

Just how history and people will parse all his votes. He demonstrated today he has bought into a left wing conspiracy - those words along with other statements will haunt him.

Now I am guessing- But in the Me2 day we are in, more allegations will come out.

Yes on that he has passed.
And it no longer takes the usual 60 votes. So be prepared for more divisive nominees in the future, rammed through by the majority party.

I was surprised by how easily they were backed down. Again, except Durbin, Harris, Booker, and Coons. And how they allowed the hearing to be turned into a referendum on process instead of focusing on the serious accusation of sexual assault.

I'm sure Kennedy and Kavanaugh's closing played right to the Trump base (pretty sure it was Kennedy.)

We shall see in November, I am sure the excuses and blame will abound when the Repubs lose the House, have a virtual tie in the Senate, and trump ends up on a very short leash for the next two years.

Republicans will regret that.
Perhaps a Constitutional Amendment that 60 votes in the Senate for Circuit-Supreme court is needed?
Same for budgets- spending- 60 votes

Yep. Kennedy. My bad.

Kennedy has always played to the base

Lol. It was a left wing conspiracy. And a fairly good one at that. But yeah, the dems have made an enemy out of this guy and him holding a grudge wold be understandable.

Dr. Ford, IMO, came off as more believable than CryBaby Kavanaugh. With each passing day his popularity continues to decrease.

Dr. Ford comported herself well, particularly appealing to women voters. CryBaby came off as a spoiled hotheaded wuss.

Brett Kavanaugh has never been a popular Supreme Court nominee — and he’s probably becoming more unpopular still following allegations earlier this month by Christine Blasey Ford that Kavanaugh had sexually assaulted her when they both were in high school. No one this unpopular has ever been confirmed to the Supreme Court; the only previous nominees who polled as poorly as Kavanaugh either had their names withdrawn (Harriet Miers) or lost their confirmation vote (Robert Bork). And all of this polling was taken before at least two other accusations surfaced of potential sexual misconduct involving Kavanaugh1 — and before Ford and Kavanaugh’s testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, which is scheduled for Thursday.

Um, maybe you havent been paying attention, but dems taking the House is hardly something new. Youve got to remember something: liberals are already furious and planning to vote. You guys cant get any more motivated or angry. The question is, will liberal lunacy drive complacent republicans to the polls. This episode may just do that.
