Will one or the other back out?

Something worse will happen in the next five days causing the public to forget all about this. I would hope this doesn't happen however, history has proven to be a disappointment. There is no bottom.

It doesn’t matter. Kavanaugh will still go to the floor for a vote. The Republican Senate votes won’t be determined by the Ford/Kavanaugh hearing, whether or not the outcome of the hearing Monday puts Kavanaugh in a bad light.

I'm going with the accuser backs out, after all, the confirmation vote simply cannot proceed until she and her special surprise witness have been allowed to 'tell her story'. The reason stated for delay will likely be "the extreme stress that this attempted rape of a minor has placed on the victim" (by the evil sexual predator Kavanaugh) has left her temporarily, we are told by expert medical personnel, unable to appear at this time". It will be stressed, of course, that the American people deserve to hear the victim's story as soon as she is able to 'recover'.

Who could possibly decide that rape a victim, disabled as a direct result of that terrible crime to this very day, should not have every accommodation made so that she can 'seek justice' - surely, we owe the women of America no less. ;)

There will be extended hearings. This was a clever ploy to move the vote after elections. Since I don't want a Corporate Supreme Court, I am in favor of the delays. The prima facia case against Kavanaugh is compelling. Though it was in his youth, it happened. Kavanaugh never said, I made a mistake in my youth and learned from it.

There is an offer to appear in committee AFAIK.

The problem is if we allow the thinnest of evidence from 30+ years ago disqualify a person, everyone else can be disqualified for one reason or another due to the unknown and unfathomable amount of page views stored around the world, not to mention "When I was in day care, candidate "X" molested me. I'm sure of it!"

His accuser has nothing but a drunken memory of a boy - Kavenaugh will do - groping her. That's it. No witnesses, no reports, no names named until she sanitized her profiles to delete her involvement with the democrat party. Why hide that other than to try to hide consciousness of guilt that she was running a scam.

She needs to be put under oath, and so does her lawyer to settle the question they are both most likely to be lying about: "Are you being paid in anyway by anyone?". She didn't just pop up out of nowhere for the goodness of her heart.

AFAIK, we have no witnesses that there even was a party, and we have no witnesses that if there was a party she was even there, and we have Kavenaugh saying he was not at a party of that kind.

She is sounding more like the Duke University stripper of 2006'ish.

actually if you look back in history once before the GOP steamrolled Anita Hill and got Clarence Thomas confirmed

but they looked.pretty bad doing it. these days that attitude could lose them an election. they will soft walk this one.

"The prima facia case against Kavanaugh is compelling"?! Ford isn't sure of the year or the place, and although she says there were two boys, her therapist's notes from 2012 say that there were four. The one person Ford says was there denies that anything like this happened. This was all so compelling that Feinstein held onto the knowledge of it for six weeks?

That is the problem - in a nation of 321M folks it is not difficult to have one of them decide to play victim (hero?) by making an allegation that they know will never place them in any legal jeopardy and could well make them a folk hero of the #metoo and resist, resist, resist crowds. All she has to do is to prove the possibility that Kavaagugh and herself both attended a (any?) HS drinking party during the summer of 1982 - that is the incredibly low bar needed by many to shame/shun anyone that dare vote to let a possible sex offender be placed on the SCOTUS.

At this point, I have to go with Ford withdrawing...only because of this:

HH: Well, I appreciate your candor and your responsiveness. Let’s get right to it. Will the hearing on Monday be televised?

CG: Yeah.

HH: And will there only be two witnesses on Monday?

CG: Yes.

HH: Who’s going to go first?

CG: Oh, we haven’t made up our mind on that, yet, but I assume that Dr. Ford would.

HH: Has Dr. Ford accepted, and she’s agreed to come?

CG: No. We have reached out to her in the last 36 hours three of four times by email, and we’ve not heard from them, so it kind of raises the question do they want to, do they want to come to the public hearing or not? And the reason we’re having the public hearing is obviously, well, number one is accusations like this deserve consideration and looking into, and that’s what the purpose of the hearing is. And we wouldn’t be having this hearing if it wasn’t for the fact that Dr. Ford told the Washington Post and other people publicly that she wanted to testify. And we also have Judge Kavanaugh. Even before we requested him to testify, he said he was willing to testify. As of Sunday night, I had that message. So we still haven’t heard from Dr. Ford. So do they want to have the hearing or not? We’re delaying the vote, strictly, to get all the facts out on the table.
