The referree owes both women an apology. Singling out Serena and penalizing her for violating an obsolete rule that almost all players and their coaches do seemed prejudiced and unwarranted. To add insult to injury he then undermines Naomi's win by giving her an extra point she didn't earn just to hurt Serena. Albeit emotional, Serena had every right to stand up for herself. I just feel bad Naomi's win was tarnished and it didn't need to happen because she would've won on her own merit and without Serena's penalties. Now there will always be doubt about her win. It's the referee that ruined Naomi's clean win...not Serena.
This judge Ramos didn't single out Serena. He's a stickler for rules violations and has penalized many other pro tennis players including men.
