John McCain Choosing Vladimir Kara-Murza As A Funeral Pallbearer Sends A Strong Message

15 people will carry John McCain's casket at his Washington D.C. memorial service on Saturday. The late senator chose them personally for symbolic reasons, and one man is being called a beyond-the-grave condemnation of both Vladimir Putin and President Donald Trump. Russian dissident Vladimir Kara-Murza will be one of McCain's pallbearers in yet another final act that puts distance between McCain and the two leaders.

Kara-Murza is an anti-Putin activist and politician, as well as the vice chairman of Open Russia, an NGO that promotes Russian democracy and is blacklisted in the country, according to The Moscow Times. He's been poisoned and nearly died twice, and he told The Independent in 2017 that these attempts on his life were meant to silence him and could have been ordered by Putin himself. Josh Meyer at Politico wrote on Tuesday that he is "perhaps the biggest full-time thorn in Putin's side....McCain continued working with his personal hero and, according to Politico, they grew even closer over the years. Kara-Murza honored McCain with an editorial in The Washington Post on Monday. "Eighteen months ago, when I lay in a Moscow hospital, in a coma after a severe poisoning, McCain took to the floor of the Senate to draw attention to my case," he wrote. "Public attention is often the only protection in these situations; and it certainly was for me.""

McCain first initiated a relationship with Kara-Murza back in 2010, according to Politico, while the U.S. government was determining its official response

The choice of McCain was a traitor and hater of Russia. It is difficult to believe Donald will choose one guy who wants a destruction of America

So . . . not being butt-budies with Trump and not being okay with his coziness with a known authoritarian thug with rival interests to the U.S. makes John McCain, who was captured, tortured, and imprisoned for six years because he refused to be released before his fellow soldiers a traitor? Since when, in America, has opposing any U.S. president made anyone a traitor?

Jesus Christ, I'm not fan of McCain's policitical career, and never thought I'd be defending the silver-spoon-fed admiral's son, but the way some of you people are losing your ****ing minds over this . . .

Quincy, Jacksonville, and Springfield here in Illinois have POW-MIA flags flying from Vietnam 🇻🇳 — One of the few National Guards to go. To think 🤔 any American could defend trump’s life over McCain’s, without all the ad nauseous comments, shows just how sick 😷 this Nation is.

My Dad was about 60 or so when Ollie North hit. He didn’t miss a hearing. He hated the Democrats for that. He was a conservative Democrat. Imagine what he’d say about trump and McCain.

I’m 64 and a mod/con DEM on the ISSUES, and damn proud of it. But I’m infinitely more proud to be an American Citizen, born overseas on an Air Force Base — but Dad was NCO — and for all to see — he blew green to gold on ALCOHOL — the greatest stain on the brain 🧠 if not handled.

Make the coffin longer...That would be Trump's way...And you can be sure that he'd announce his funeral plans before he dies, saying he had the "biggest and best" coffin with the most pallbearers.
