Question For Democrats Or Others On The Left

Would you soften your stance on gun control to steal Republican Votes?

Said other, because while I wouldn't soften my views on gun control, it wouldn't be because I believe in gun grabbing, but rather I don't think I could possibly be softer than I am. Guns are not the root cause, therefore being divisive about it is counterproductive.

We have a Second Amendment and should have no security problems in our free States.

I'm getting lost in this loop...you seem to want to make a point. Spit it out, bud... ;)

We have a Second Amendment and should have no security problems in our free States.

This is a States' sovereign Right, secured by our Second Amendment.

The defense and protection of the state and of the United States is an obligation of all persons within the state. The legislature shall provide for the discharge of this obligation and for the maintenance and regulation of an organized militia.

Hmm...well, not all of you have guns, so clearly there are gaps in the strategy... How many guns have you got?

Nothing wrong with the strategy, just lousy management: The legislature shall provide for the discharge of this obligation and for the maintenance and regulation of an organized militia.

LOL. That's the same way you guys felt in 2016. You ALWAYS make the mistake of thinking that the pendulum's momentum is on the left's side. You've felt that way for years, as more than 1000 Democratic seats turned red.

It's not about how I feel, it's about facts. Can you actually deny that each generation becomes more progressive and liberal than the next? Last I checked, it's all conservatives complain about. "The young kids these days..."

I'm not talking about 2 years ago, I'm talking about generations. As bad as you probably are, you're parents were probably worse. You're kids will probably be better. That rings true for most people. Even the actual liberals themselves.

You just don't like the poll results.

The question itself is too stupid for me to care what the poll results are.

No sane person will ever say, "I will never change my position on X." Life doesn't work like that; it's only cultists and fanatics who pretend it does.

LOL. Yes, the facts do show that Democrats have lost over 1000 seats to Republicans over the last several years. Now that's what I call momentum.

Well then, that is a yes. You would change your position. Thanks for answering the poll. Now, that wasn't really so hard, was it?

Gerrymandering included and you're STILL going to lose the house. :lamo

Nonetheless, I still can't believe conservatives don't have the common sense to even admit the blue team is winning. Slowly sure, but still winning.

Almost as if showing up on election day matters, huh?

This "winning" you refer to will feel a bit more real to me when Democrats take one of the chambers of Congress.

The hopeful aspect (for dems) of Ohio's special election is that the repubs I hear tell, not only had every repub they could convince go to Ohio and endorse the repub
but in a district that Trump won IIRC, by 12% but also spent $40 million on this race, it is still undecided with a 1,500 votes margin or .8 %.

This may, just not sure qualify...for a recount. Come Nov. the dems have a lot more to pull out while the repubs don't.

In a heartbeat :lamo

LOL. Yes, I believe the "blue team" will take over the House. I also believe the Red team will pick up seats in the Senate. And, Trump is still president! Neeners, neeners. And, Republicans own 2/3's of the governorships and state legislatures so I hardly call that the blue team winning. Oh, but wait a minute. We forgot about all of that Russian meddling. So, how on Earth are Democrats going to take back the House with all of that Russian meddling?

Actually the answer would be no (as your poll is worded), but the fact that no one can promise never to change their thinking or beliefs is what makes the question so ridiculous.

Just curious. Please only lefties vote. Would you give up your gun control fight in order to make the Republican party irrelevant in order to further your other left wing policies? Caveat: You could not later change your stance on gun control. You would have to accept no additional gun control forever.

Since the people have not been able to have a say in gun control that matters, your poll does not matter either.

Methinks you forget how many uber partisans there are in this country (both people and politicians) who have dug their heels in and have absolutely no desire to change their opinions, ever.

That may be true to some degree but there are a lot of Democrats who hail from 2A states and 2A districts who know what would happen to them if they strayed off their own reservation and sided with big city Californians. Let's face it, this is just yet another example of how big city Californians think they can decide the fate of the entire country. These Democrats in office are very well aware of who butters their bread. So, people DO have a say in gun control but these big Democratic cities across the US are not going to force their liberal beliefs on the entire country. Some generic average poll of the US regarding gun control does not paint an accurate picture of what is going on out there. Just as California didn't decide the 2016 election, they aren't going to decide the gun control issue for the whole country either.

So you don't consider on average a shooting a week this year and over 33,000 firearms deaths a year a problem. Don't get me wrong what you stated is important particularly healthcare but policy making and consideration of these issues can occur simultaneously.

you really need to put this in perspective. 2/3rds are suicide. about 11,000 left and 80% of those are gang related. leaves about 2000. then we have the.crazy white guy mass shooter.

so solve the gang and mentally ill issue and problem solved.

deaths by drowning about 3500

by bicycle about 1000

by auto 37,500

and i will add 63,500 drug overdose deaths which i directly tie to our failed war on drugs. add that to 10,000 gang related gun deaths no doubt drug related and obviously there lies the real problem.

Doesn't mean they never will.

It's not that hard to get someone to do something they would swear they'd never do.

Don't know how old you are but don't hold your breath for the next 10-20 years, or more. We've had partisan gridlock for about 20 years now, maybe longer. And, it's getting worse, not better.
