American Conservatives have become what we once fought against.

We'll need a second national reconstruction to clean up the present mess the kind and gentlemanly post civil war reconstruction bequeathed to us.

Trump getting elected is like Jefferson Davis becoming Potus in 1860 while holding hands with the English crown. Lincoln's reconstruction -- love Ol' Abe -- and that was implemented by his successors was soft and mushy, which brings us back again to the present mess. I tell my friends and colleagues to go long on blindfolds and cigarettes.

Yeah, they seem to be 5 groups of note in the Republican party:
1. the elites/wealthy who want power and money, and the rest be damned. (Russian's mad at sanctions? What's that worth to you Putin??)
2. Trump supporters who are now bat-****-crazy thanks to right wing media and the cult of Trump
- 3. a big subset of those are people motivated by racial hatred and fear, lot of it southern/rural...same fools that fought for slavery
4. evangelicals who are lost and without a god
5. old guard conservatives who can't even remember what it is they use to claim they valued

Democrats have issues, but damn if Republicans haven't made it trivial to oppose them purely on existential grounds.

I've said from the outset that Trump will do himself in on national security, defense, stability, sovereignty. Singapore and Helsinki were Trump's point of no return. The November election is the threshold factor because the 2018 election is Putin's continuation of the 2015-16 election campaign. The Democrats are well positioned coming on. However, regardless of the outcome the Putin-Trump mangling of USA elections processes, procedures, voters, only raises the visibility of the Russian cyber-invasion and highlights the critical menace Russia is to the United States. We're talking Putin-Trump-Fanboyz.

In most investigations, there is a crime and the investigator tries to find out whodunit. In this investigation, there is Trump and Mueller is trying to find a crime to assign to him.

Mueller isn't named Muldoon and doesn't have a gang.
There was no cabal.
There wasn't and isn't a charade, although I'll agree we have issues with the justice system - this isn't one of them, however.

I don't like pet names.

So far as I'm aware Mueller is highly respected, if he was as you describe he wouldn't be.

Your portrayal of the investigation is completely incorrect, Mueller and team have been investigating for crimes, there is no indication they've found conclusive evidence on Trump himself doing anything wrong, most of that is media hype about how "this person related to Trump did something wrong, Trump must have known/told him to/and so forth."
Even Mueller wanting to ask Trump questions doesn't mean much, necessarily.

And lastly, it's not a witch hunt. No matter how often that lie is repeated, it doesn't make it true, even if people believe it is.

Why hasn't the Steele Dossier been released in its entirety with no redactions? It's obviously a thing of fantasy.

The only reason is that the crooks who used it to work the swindle are now working a cover up.

My impressions of the proceedings to date.

Part of the Steele Dossier was the description of the hookers in the hotel in Russia peeing on the bed where Obama slept.

They never found the hookers.

Astonishingly, to me, they never found hookers who would even say they peed on the bed.

The difference between a hooker and lawyer is that a hooker stops screwing you after you die.

Hookers are not known to be paragons of virtuous truth brokerage. Simply having their ethics compared to the ethics displayed by lawyers is condemning.

At some point, asking this question provides light where there is only darkness: "If this is true, what else must be true?"

Allegations abound while facts and specifics are few and those are subject to perversion by wicked liars and deceivers. They are not investigating Russian interference no matter where it may lead. They are only trying to implicate Trump. Show me the man and I'll prove the crime.

This is the definition of a Witch Hunt. If the authorization pasted above had ended with the words "...between the Russian government and any and all individuals." that would be an investigation.

As it is, this is only a Witch Hunt. The biased, agenda driven ideologues who initiated this Witch Hunt must have understood exactly what they were doing with this and hoped that their biased, agenda driven motives would not be uncovered before the coup was completed.

After the coup was completed, the new party in charge would effect the cover up and gleeful media would be their willing accomplices.
