Proud to Be White?

What a garbelled premise. Proud to be white? Yeah, okay, if your life is so bereft of pride maybe being white will give you a warm glow but if that's the case you probably don't matter anyway.

Agreed, with this caveat - What you describe is cultural and historical actions by the person or the group of people, not simply racially or skin color driven, as the OP refers - being proud of skin color, period. There's nothing wrong with taking pride in the accomplishments of yourself or others in your group, regardless of the type of group. But I still stand by my original point, which I do not believe is mutually exclusive to your point.

Had that for dinner, with slow cooker roast, fried fresh okra, fresh sliced tomatoes and cucumbers, and assorted veggies that we put in the crock pot with the roast. And, I think it was the white infiltrating the yellow - a reverse Manchurian Candidate type corn.

I look at the OP in this perspective: I don't want to hear about "white privilege" or that I owe anyone anything because of my skin color. Keep your mitts off my assets and income.

The sweet corn we get at a great Iowa truck farm put this stuff to shame. Same day out of the field. More expensive this year. Next time I’ll get several dozens and freeze it for off-season.

We raise Charolais beef — cows very protective — gorgeous calves — great calving season — bulls did their job — meat locker — dried beef —

It’s not anything specific I’ve learned. It’s the mindset farming puts you in. I’ll be interested to hear about farming in your state. I can’t learn enough. I have good plans to save margins across the board.

And the there’s this other passion that won’t let go — Infrastructure— we must have an Eisenhower 2.0 across the board — we have great generals like Dunford that keep my hope alive.

But a while ago I did some research on prejudicial attitudes in play in the US 100+ years ago agains Irish, Italians and Jews. One racialist theory was that the three groups were white, but barely, as the came from the extremes of Europe: Irish from the extreme northeast, Italians (southern Itals and Sicilians) from the extreme south, and Jews from the extreme east, Russia. Silly, of course, but interesting how a theory develops after the fact to justify a prejudice. (There used to be a saying about Italy, “south of the Po starts Africa,” used to separate Italians into good and not quite acceptable.)

Brush up on your history. Seems to me brown people played a strong role in building this country. And they haven’t tried to eliminate people since the Alamo, Davy.

I will agree that there are some factions within our society who look at skin color when they are trying to make an argument.

But you really need to get over this sort of thinking because it a bad way to go.
