"In Trump’s Russia Summit, Putin Holds All the Cards
..-

...
He also opined there that Crimea should probably belong to Russia anyway, because everyone there speaks Russian — parroting the Kremlin’s irredentist talking point — and argued for reinstating Russia in the G7, from which it was expelled over the Ukraine debacle..."

In Trump?s Russia Summit, Putin Holds All the Cards

As to the NATO exercises, I am unsure, as to Crimea I voted no.

Perhaps, he may halt the exercises as a show of good faith, however, I think the meeting is more about Syria... and whatever else crime lords discuss in private, how many kneecaps they collected etc. Mueller's indictment of the 12 GRU officers has interesting timing, it's almost like a warning shot across the bow. If he has more evidence against Trump's involvement with Russia, this meeting would be a terrible idea for Trump, potentially cementing his guilt by going against all advice to cancel. I wonder if Trump understands what a fine line he's toeing, probably too arogant to care.

Trump was briefed before he left this was coming down. Expect the next charges to include a number of US Citizens.

Not sure he would want to come back and face Congress and the American People. Let us all hope he is not that stupid or insane.

Do you think he gives a **** about Congress or the American People?

Nope, but he does worry that they might take away his ego feeding job and he hates to be embarrassed, though he should be used to it by now.

its all reminds this situation

Many problems.

(1) Trump doesn't prepare himself for his meetings with world leaders, preferring to trust in his gut instincts on the spot. We've seen what his gut instincts have yielded in regards to any number of his policy decisions, the latest example being to order a halt to US/South Korean military drills solely to appease Kim. In return, Kim has since ratcheted-up his nuclear program, called Mile Pompeo's latest negotiating visit to Pyongyang "regrettable", and described the Trump administration as "gangsters". Trump got played by Kim and Putin is exponentially better at this summit game than Kim.

(2) Trump has no viable idea of the particulars of the Maidan Revolution, the facts about Russia's military invasion and illegal annexation of Crimea, nor any working idea of the war statistics in eastern Ukraine to date; 10,200+ dead, 20,000+ wounded, 715 missing, and 1.5 million displaced. None of this would be possible without explicit Kremlin direction, intelligence, soldiers, weapons, ammunition, fuel, and economic support. To demonstrate how intellectually deficient in this topic Trump really is, last week he suggested Crimea should belong to Russia because many people there speak Russian. Trump obviously doesn't know that Ukrainian, Belarusian, and Russian are mutually intelligible languages. His rationale is also flawed and nonsensical -- like suggesting Texas should belong to Mexico because many people in Texas speak Spanish. Just yesterday Trump couldn't even remember the name of the Ukraine president. Geezus.

(3) Trump almost always goes with the last word he hears on a topic. Unfortunately, the last word Trump will hear when speaking with Putin is the word of Putin. For some inexplicable and unexplainable reason, Trump insists that he initially meet Putin with no other American officials present. That means there is no viable way for US officials/media to fact-check post-summit claims by either Trump or Putin. Putin could claim Trump promised him Alaska and there would be no way to disprove such a claim. Outlandish, but you get the idea. What Trump is doing here is not only glaringly stupid, but also extremely dangerous.

This is a summit between two leaders who are both incredibly arrogant and each believes that he knows everything there is to know. Unfortunately for the US, our president is incredibly ill informed, easy to flatter, and sitting down with a skilled intelligence agent. He's toast. Depends on how much heat Putin wants to bring to this first meeting.

I think Putin will give him one small token to bring out of the meeting, so he can brag to the press, and continue to be useful to Putin.

Will the Russians halt their naval exercises in the Caribbean? How about their annual naval exercises off San Diego?

Unsure. Trump changes his positions more often than a indecisive porn star and he is two-faced.

Christ only knows. After that summit and the subsequent two hour private meeting with Putin he could have agreed to anything at all.

I will say though that recognizing Crimea as Russian seems super plausible at this point.

That's the sad thing. Such a megalomaniac would not care if everyone was against him. To back Putin so openly over your own intelligence community, would've caused all previous president's terminal damage. Why not Trump?
