I believe in more recent times the safe guards put in place to keep alcohol & tobacco out of the hands of minors has greatly improved over what it was say 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago.

Are minors still obtaining alcohol & tobacco? Sure they are but not at the rate, nor numbers that they were in recent decades.

Probably so. But alcohol and tobacco just aren't as popular with young people as they were a couple of decades ago. Today it's various drugs. Read the problems law enforcement is facing in Colorado and get back to me. I'm willing to have a civil discussion on this topic.

well, if we are honest then we understand that compared to the current drugs that folks get hooked on & OD on, alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis do NOT have near the potential for near term damage, or death .......... generally speaking ..........

For most people that is probably true. For some it is not to be considered lightly. When I was a teenager in the mid-sixties I smoked pot socially. Never bought any, but never turned down a joint. I was pretty reckless back then. Never turned down lots of other stuff either. When I went into the Navy, worked on aircraft, I had sense enough to realize I had to focus on the job or people died. Getting out I went to school, worked non-stop and just didn't have the time or inclination to limit myself anymore. While teaching I saw quite a few promising students settle for mediocrity, due to pot primarily. And I ran a full time small construction company on the side. Having smoked my share of weed I could usually tell when a worker was impaired. I had ZERO tolerance. I didn't want people with THC in their system up on roofs, running table saws, or even pushing a wheelbarrow. So I guess I'm still prejudiced on this topic. Overall, I just don't think the plus outweighs the negative.

so, one of the drug dealers on my block (yes, there are more than one drug dealers on my block) died today

History: drug dealer was having smoking & drinking 'events' on his property, on the sidewalk, in the street, blatant drug use & drinking out in the open, for the past few years.
Drug dealer was busted about a year & a half ago; felony charges as far as what I was told by LE. THEN, drug dealer was obviously cranking back up his operations.
Traffic coming & going, folks driving up, staying 5, maybe 10 minutes, obvious drug traffic, no hiding the issue. I guess Mr. Drug Dealer didn't learn his lesson.

So, this afternoon SPPD was over there with multiple squads, lots of folks over there hugging, arms going sky high like they were imploring some 'higher power' ........... a box of Kleenex on a car roof, peeps grabbing Kleenex, peeps boohooing, so many cars on the street at one point there was no place to park a vehicle on the entire block, and this went on for hours.

So, about 3:20 a hearse FINALLY shows up, they take the body out of the house & put the body in the hearse about 3:30 & now, FINALLY; no more drug dealer & hopefully NO MORE drug buying traffic.

I am quiet happy to know this. My 'hood may return to a much more desirable location, now that ONE of our lovely drug dealers is DEAD.

Should I be Happy the Drug Dealer is Dead? You ****ing tell me ...........
Chances are there will be another taking his place in some form soon.

Unbelievable how much traffic has decreased now that the drug dealer guy is dead; I'm actually starting to like my block a lot more

I'm actually thinking about paying off my mortgage now

Guy was a pain in our ass. Nothing with being glad to be rid of him.

Be nice to his family if you see them again. No excuse for being rude or cruel. Without his business, they'll be moving on to greener pastures themselves, anyway.

What about his poor customers? They need a new supplier now.

not to worry...Pfizer,Merck,Eli Lilly, etc.,etc ( side effects may include death) :)

so, I spoke with the 'land lord' that rents the property where the 'dead drug dealer' previously resided & I asked him about how he screens/vets his tenants.

he described to me what seems a plausible process.

Well, now there is a new tenent & according to the lady next door to the property I talked with the afternoon the 'dead drug dealer' died, a new drug dealer has moved in.

He previously lived a few doors down & according to the lady's friend, this new tenant was selling to 'drive ups' in the alley. The lady said her friend would tell the drug dealer to,"go sale your **** somewhere else."

I will keep an eye on the property & if need be, I will again contact RCDTF and LE will be on his ass too, just like they were on the dead guy's ass ...........
