No, in the sense that the Republican Party is made up of far more groups, movements, and bases of voters than just the Tea Party. The Tea Party, while it did attract independents or some "blue dog" stylized democrats in it's early days, has always been a conservative movement. A formal group never really coalesced in my community, but there certainly was a strong "tea-party" attitude and demand for townhalls. One of my local news outlets announced that a few people were planning to meet with our elected rep, a Democrat I had happily returned to D.C. again and again. I decided to go, and hundreds of others showed up at his local office too, most of them with funny homemade posters that focused mainly on "Obamacare" and money, and the assemblage, to my amazement, crossed all demographic lines.

No. I claimed the tea party was racist. There are some fine tea baggers I am sure.
 
Yes, I was part of and involved in the Tampa Bay Tea Party Patriots. It was focused on pushing back on Obamacare. Once Obamacare was established, there wasn't much point in continuing the effort on an ongoing basis and the movement declined. The above post is for those interested in the facts and not just making up their own put-downs.

On that day they voted in a Democrat.

And the Tea Party also went after Republicans who they believed were no longer represented their beliefs...
