2 additional people in Britain have apparently been poisoned with the Novichok agent that felled Russian expats Sergei and Yulia Skripal on 4 March 2018.

Miraculously, they survived. If this is the same batch of Novichok agent, its durability is of military grade.

Then in December 2014, one of his associates Scot Young, was found impaled on railings in Marylebone after allegedly falling from his flat.

He told his partner he was planning on jumping moments before he was found, but a coroner ruled there was insufficient evidence to rule his death was a suicide.

Elsewhere in the world, nine high-profile Russians have died in mysterious circumstances since the US presidential election on 8 November 2016.

Six Russian diplomats have died since Donald Trump’s victory, although many of their deaths have been ruled “natural” or not suspicious."

Charlie Rowley, 45, and Dawn Sturgess, 44, collapsed at a house in Amesbury, Wiltshire, on Saturday and remain critically ill.

Home secretary Sajid Javid said the nerve agent was the same as that used on ex-Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in March.

Russia said Theresa May's government was subjecting them "to hell".

Mr Javid accused Russia of using Britain as a "dumping ground for poison" after the second incident involving the nerve agent.

But a Russian Embassy spokesman said all allegations of the country's involvement were "merely speculative".

The Met said there were around 100 detectives from the Counter Terrorism Network working alongside Wiltshire Police on the "major incident".

Salisbury District Hospital's chief executive Cara Charles-Barks said the couple are "extremely unwell" and remain in a critical condition.

Watching this saddens me Litwin, in the last two decades we've seen the largest amounts of money stolen through corruption in human history, China, Russia, Malaysia, South Africa, Venezuela..... billions and billions stolen from the people's of those and other countries. For Russia... Litvinenko's end is where it began.

Police have launched a murder inquiry after a woman exposed to nerve agent Novichok in Wiltshire died.

Dawn Sturgess, 44, died in hospital on Sunday evening after falling critically ill on 30 June.

Charlie Rowley, 45, who was also exposed to the nerve agent in Amesbury, remains critically ill in hospital.

Theresa May said she was "appalled and shocked" by the death, which comes after the poisoning of Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury."

Within hours of British police announcing last night that a couple from Amesbury, Wiltshire had been poisoned with Novichok, Russia’s propaganda machine was firing out projectiles in all directions with the usual aim of casting doubt and confusion in people’s minds. The real story is fairly straightforward: Charlie Rowley and Dawn Sturgess were taken ill on June 30 and are now in critical condition, probably due to coming into contact with Novichok residue in Salisbury from the attack on Sergei and Yulia Skripal in March.

By now Russia’s tactics in these situations are tried and tested, and even boring, but they’re still effective. Plenty of people in the UK would rather believe that they are being duped by their own government than by Russia – supporters of Labour’s Jeremy Corbyn in particular – and they form a fertile audience for Russia’s lies, which they then repeat and embellish themselves. The cycle continues with Russian media quoting the British “sceptics”, who are depicted as being smarter than those who trust the “official narrative” – in other words, stick to known facts.
