Who Will Trump pick for the Kennedy vacancy?

I was a minute late submitting the poll due to a phone call

some of the contenders include

Tom Hardiman
Ann Barrett
Ray Kethledge
Brett Kavanaugh
Amul Thapar
Joan Larsen

Kavanaugh and Barrett appear to be the leaders now

I have heard a number of names today mentioned by pundits but much of what they were up to was cheerleading for their choice. I also read a piece that McConnell suggested to Trump not to pick someone this time with years on the bench because Democrats will use it to drag out the confirmation process because of so many rulings they can mine through looking for something they could make hay over dragging out the process.

Hardiman is strong on the 2nd Amendment and the Washington Post is painting him an extremist on gun rights while some fear Kethledge would be a Souter 2.0.

Social conservatives favor Barrett. Though she has a very impressive resume, she hasn't been on the bench very long and earlier I supported her and I would do so but I think she would be better saved for replacing RBG. After studying all on the list, my choice would be Amul Thapar. I don't have a clue who Trump will pick but I do know one thing, it won't matter who it is because the left is going to do everything possible to turn this confirmation into a circus.

My guess and it's just guess would be Amy Comey Barret.

President Trump has a great group of people to choose from.

I keep hearing he will pick Barrett to energize his base before the midterms. Having a drawn out confirmation battle may push social conservatives to show up at the polls if they think Roe could be overturned. Of course, that could backfire at this point as well and become a rallying call of the progressives. This is after all a woman who openly stated she did not have to respect any precedent, which means she could have influence over more than just abortion and gay rights.

The pick will be Hardiman, who was worked with DJT's sister. He also vetted him last year so I think has a good idea what type of Judge he will be.

I don't believe Barrett will be the pick for several reasons:

1. This will enbolden the liberal female senators to attack her more vigorously during the confirmation process about her faith and position on abortion.

2. This is a fairly young woman at age 45. I am concerned her mindset will change when she gets PMS. I don't want to see some liberal awakening happen on the bench.

Barrett.
She is an amazing pick and will cause the Dem's to be forced to vilify a successful woman prior to the midterms, and that seems like the sort of thing Trump would find wroth the effort.

Brett Kavanaugh

Andy Kaufman. We have waited over thirty years for it.

Dude, at 45 she is close to menopause. If your really think PMS is an issue, she would have about 30 years of history for you to investigate if you think it is an issue....

PMS, good grief. Either you believe that or it was yet another trolling attempt.

Most women that have gone on the Supreme court are past the age of menopause.

I apologize. I didn't mean PMS. I meant menopause. I got confused.

The judges getting appointed are younger and younger.

I think my point is a woman is more likely to become empathetic than a man. She has special needs kids. In the courts, we need someone that will judge, not legislate.

My pick was Mike Lee but he seems out of the loop now.

Also, most people do not want a conservative or liberal judge, they want an impartial judge.

Every time I have talked to a female judge, she was never impartial. IMO I do not know how a woman can be impartial on issues like abortion.

I am not a lawyer and do not have extensive discussions with judges but I am sure if you ask people in that field they would agree with me, a female judge is more likely to be empathetic towards criminals, female rape victims, minorities, etc.

IMO the majority of female judges - even the conservative ones, are activist judges.

Sandra Day O'Connor was 50 at the time of her appointment.....and she seemed to whether the storm in a damned fine manner.

Your PMS and backtracking to menopause just seems like trolling.

What about menopause scares you so much?

Women and men have different brain chemistry. We derive at solutions differently. Do you deny this?

I don't think women are capable of being originalists. For the most part, it is not in their DNA. The constitution was a document created by men and for the most part in U.S history interpreted by male justices. How are many female originalist Judges on the bench in the U.S?

Nearly every female judge in the Supreme Court has been an activist judge, yes even the female conservative judge - 1.

In 5 1/2 hours, I know who Trump will pick. I can assure you it will not be a female nominee. I am a Trump supporter. I understand what Trump is thinking and his logic.

I will gladly eat crow if I am wrong but don't expect any surprises tonight.

Hardiman is the pick. Book it.

I do not believe she will be picked either.

But seriously, now you are indicating women should not be on the SCOTUS. That is either misogyny in it's most elemental form or trolling.

They are reporting the choice is down to two. Kavanaugh and Hardiman.
At this time, if what is being reported is true, I am going to say Hardiman. He was the runner up in picking Gorsuch. This judge was the first person in his family to go to college. He paid his way through working as a taxi driver. I like that.

No your point was that the PMS (which you changed to menopause) would change her mindset … ostensibly due to your beliefs on chemistry or something.

Now you are piling on about empathy and special needs kids.

Make up your mind.

We can both agree that she is not likely to be chosen but your comments reveal how you treat women.

Who do you think will be the next nominee for Kennedy's seat

Poll to follow

He will most likely pick the least qualified person on his short list. Unless someone on the internet gets him all riled up. In that case he could pick just about anyone.

He also worked with Trump's (lib) sister, and I believe she has recommended him. He was on the previous list, correct?

Who Will Trump pick for the Kennedy vacancy?

It really doesn't matter. All of the candidates on Trumps list were vetted by the ultra-conservative Federalist Society.

All the boxes were checked and they all carry that Ultra-Conservative Gold Card issued by the organization above.

The Senate hearings are simply a formality. Collins and Murkowski will certainly vote yes.

Probably some Democrat Senators in red states will vote yes also like Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, Joe Donnelly of Indiana, and perhaps Joe Manchin of West Virginia.

Define Ultra-conservative, please.

Would call James Mad Dog Mattis and Neil unqualified?

A traitor will pick a corporate shill who believes in fairy tales. 99% chance.
