Curious how everyone feels about it.

We've given them great photo ops and legitimacy in the world. We've given up military drills with a close ally. We've discussed getting rid of troops in the area.
In return we have gotten a vague promise that NK would like to denuclearize the peninsula in the future.
It could have been worse, but for what we gave up we should have had much more specifics as to what exactly we are getting from NK in exchange. Anyone that had a problem with the Iran deal is an idiot if they think this is some kind of amazing negotiation.

You can bet that we and SK discussed giving up military drills before Trump agreed to this. We didn't just offer this up without the support of SK. Moon is very much into all of this. In fact, he made his campaign all about working with the North.
When dealing with North Korea, I will believe it when I see it.
This is fair. Though we gave-up a pretty lot to Kim to get it. But both leaders got their PR to brag about at home, so they're happy.I think Trump accomplished exactly what he set out to do in this first meeting...it was a "get to know you" meeting.
Exactly. Whatever may come of it, the nukes are here to stay. Trump will be lucky to get a deal as good as Iran when it's over (but I doubt it), and it will cost us dearly.I don't think it was a disaster, but I also don't have any faith that anything will come of it. Just vague promises and photo ops for a dictator.......and the NK leader. It's amazing how many people have forgotten how often NK has lied in the past.
Though not a probability ...A beginning. Potential. No one really knows how it will turn out. But it is a possibility.
Yep. They went with the PR first, before putting in the hard work that leads to the PR event. In that aspect, it was very Trumpian. It was likely just another 'handshake summit', done for the adulation and attention, as there has been very little to indicate that anything could come from this.
The hard work over years that it takes to get things of real substance achieved simply isn't there.

That goes for Trump, too! When dealing with North Korea, I will believe it when I see it.
Meh. Debatable. We elevated Kim to the status of legitimate world leader, without extracting anything from him. Those American & NK flags entertwined on the stage were pretty disgusting, in my opinion. We also gave Kim the security of no longer fearing military action at this time. Kim got things of substance. Trump got PR, and a promise that means absolutely nothing.Just about all of us should be voting “Let's wait and see what comes of it. I'm crossing my fingers.”
It was unrealistic to assume massive success from an initial meeting, but it is a reasonable step given relations to date.
