C-Word rhymes with bunt :)

10 = most offensive (equal to the n-word)
9 = highly offensive
8 = highly offensive
7 = clearly offensive
6 = clearly offensive
5 = mildly offensive
4 = mildly offensive
3 = possible offensive
2 = possibly offensive
1 = not offensive (oh turtle feathers)

In our PC world ive seen some talk equating **** with the n-word, so i want to know what people actually think.
I personally think equating them in anyway is absurd and has no logical or intellectual merit at all. Of course people can be offended over both words and find **** to be highly offensive thats just fine and logical. But they are still different planets apart vulgarity/offensiveness wise IMO. Heck not myself, i just find it absurd, but id bet money there are many people that are more offended over equating the words then they are of the usage of ****, that alone speaks volumes of how they are not on the same planet of existence.

One word, the N-word, was invented to disparage an entire race, thats the basis of its creation and was its main purpose. The other word was created to describe a body part. Thats its orgin. Over time it has developed slang usage and can be used derogatory towards a woman or women or any person but is also used like the f-word as a person, place, thing adj and noun. In many places like the f-word its also has good and bad, angry and happy connotations.

LMAO
based on what intellectual logic and merit?

Perhaps because it has been conceived of and received as a misogynistic and opprobrious epithet denoting one's contempt for womanhood. In the words of John Lennon, woman is the nigger of the world, and women have been the primary receivers of ill-treatment by men.

4 = mildly offensive.

I guess it might bother me if some dick called me a ****, depending on the context.

Look, you offered the answer and I chose it. It's based on my personal perception.

so testy, LMAO. Correct you gave it and i asked you to support it. guess you dont feel confident in any answer you'd give or your ability to logically support your personal perception.
No worries, you dont have to, if i had that personal perception id be embarrassed and wouldn't try either. Luckily i could never have such an illogical personal perception.

I'd say a 7.

In my personal experience, context of the word matters a bit more than the world itself sometimes.

LMAO

You ask for an opinion and then bust her over the head when she gives you one?

Why should a woman being called a c**t be any less offended than a black person being called a n****r?

Eh, for the most part, depending on the context, I don't really have an issue with the word. I guess a 4 would be my vote.

I guess it depends on where you are....when I lived in Glasgow, it was used more often than "please" and "thank you".

Back in the States? People wet themselves at the sound of the word.

Y'know, I don't really find that to be an illogical opinion to hold. Some people do find the C-word equally as offensive to the N-word. Nothing wrong with that.

1.) yes ask for an opinion but "i" didnt bust anybody when i asked why i got attitude so i treated the response accordingly :shrug:
2.) weird dont recall giving any specific examples of use vs another nor did i say a women being called one shouldnt be as offended as a black being called the n-word. strawman noted though.

they can both be equally offend as individuals. Hell a person my feel just as offend over being called a liar or jerk. :shrug: that has nothing to do with my question or poll LMAO

I'm not being testy -- but you asked how we viewed the word -- and I chose within your selections. None of us can offer an opinion other than that which resonates with us. The times in my life that I've heard the "CU Next Tuesday" word were in attempts to degrade and belittle females in general. Extremely misogynistic.

I accept that you look at it differently - but let me ask you one thing. Did you want me to lie on your poll? I could have, and I'd have avoided the backlash.

oh obviously some do find it that way but it certainly seems illogical since nobody can explain why they "equate" them. Ive never seen any rational logic for calming they are equal. Have you?
I mean maybe if a person finds basically all vulgarity/insults equal i guess, still not logical but at least it explains it a little.

Just for a funny example . . if my kid, mother, brother, father etc etc called somebody a **** . . i would be shocked but at the same time i would wonder why they did it, i might wonder what the person did they are calling a ****. Now if those same people called somebody a n-word, i doubt i ever think that way. Id be disappointed and tell them to never use that word like that.

There was no "attitude" in her response. She merely answered the question you asked. Your reply to her answer implied condescension. Tying that back to your original question, it's the condescension that is offensive. A word is just a word but when that word is combined with other factors that imply ridicule, superiority, dismissiveness, etc. then the whole tenor of the comment becomes offensive.

Offense is entirely subjective. What one finds to be offensive another doesn't. Now, I don't really see the problem with someone taking offense to both words equally. They both can be very offensive.

Considering that **** and nigger are todays taboo words and will likely get a rise out of people, as the Emporer of All Assholes Everywhere, it is my sworn and not so solem duty to use those words to great effect. I love em. George Carlin on the seven most dangerous words. :mrgreen:

1.) I'm not being testy -- but you asked how we viewed the word -- and I chose within your selections.
2.) None of us can offer an opinion other than that which resonates with us.

4.) I accept that you look at it differently - but let me ask you one thing. Did you want me to lie on your poll? I could have, and I'd have avoided the backlash.

1.) so you usually type "look" in a nontesty way to a simply question that you dont answer? LOL sorry that seems hard fetched. I dont think i have ever heard or read somebody start out with the word look then not answer the question and NOT be testy?
I guess i can take your word for it but i wouldnt bet money on it at all. . . but anyway i can gladly have a conversation about it if you are NOT testy and give attitude. what you give is what you will get ;)
2.) which is why i asked you the questions i did
3.) so a person or persons using it Extremely misogynistic (which is gross) makes you equate it to the n-word and thing they are equal....interesting
I have to wonder all these things. How often have you heard the n-word and in what context? do you know its orgin? do you know its history? do you have any black friends or family members? (basically black people in your life that you love), have you witnessed them called an n-word based on racism?

for me orgin alone makes them not equal. thier sole existences are completely different. i cant equate a word that was invented to disparage a race to a word that was invented for a body part. i cant equate a word that has the history the n-word has to a word that does not have that history at all. Personal experience is one thing but logic is quite another. and then if the answer to any of those other questions is yes i find it even more illogical to equate the two.

4.) nope i want an honest poll and when i asked why i wanted an honest answer there instead of attitude, which you claim you didnt give and i cautiously take your word for it. the backlash was for your attitude not your answer.Curious though if that wasnt attitude why you just dint answer the first time? if you did then we'd already be having this conversation. no attitude just talking and explaining why we will never agree. :shrug:

1.) thats your opinion and nothing about attitude and your claim she answered is factually wrong, she didnt answer.
ive never seen or read anybody start off a sentence like that with the word LOOK and then not answer LOL
2.) id dint imply it it was direct because of the attitude
3.) agreed but theres no logic to make them equal words

at least you didnt try and strawmen this time, good job!

1.) I agree 100%
2.) again problem? no . . lacking logic to make them equal, yes
3.) absolutley

You quoted her reply. There's no "look" in it.

Here's the problem with constantly looking at the world for reasons to be offended; eventually people get to the point where if there's nothing there to be offended over they just start making things up to be offended about.
