Democratic Party politicians & their liberal media pals have recently made a big deal over Trump's reference to MS-13 members as 'animals', many of whom are illegal immigrants.

Was Trump's comment racist or insensitive? I say no. Trump was being honest, and voicing the opinion of many in law enforcement and in neighborhoods who actually have contact with gang members.

Trump is obviously physiologically scarred from the trauma of living though the collapse of civility in NYC during the 1970's-80's.

Trump is also obviously wrong here.

What's to comment on? Trump has lowered the discourse to levels previously unimaginable. Am I going to object to this one act of dehumanization from him?

First and foremost, No. It is neither of those to refer to an actual group of animals.. as animals.

No, animals are animals, humans are humans, these humans behave worse than animals. Animals are not the cruel usually, they also do not have a HIGHER functioning brain like humans have. That is what differentiates us from animals. MS13 commits crimes that are inhumane but they are not animals. First because that is an insult to animals.

And the attitude that people are animals is just wrong, that is what the Nazi's did with Jews (making them out to be rats), that is what the massacre perpetrators in Rwanda did, it is an attitude that solves nothing and just make Trump sound like an idiot and a racist.

My gut feeling is that leftists are only upset because the criminals Trump happened to equate with animals are not white. Leftists are the ones who have racial hang ups if they hear the word 'animals' used to describe MS13, and immediately equate that term with brown skin rather than heinous criminality.

I don't hate it at all, but I'm saddened by what I see going on here. Entire regions of the state are plagued by homelessness and drug addiction, partly fueled by the huge amounts of drugs being dealt by gangs like MS-13. The liberals answer to this is just to not care, or white flight your ass to Portland. I want to save this state, not abandon it to drug lords.

The Holocaust! Rwanda!

First off it’s a definition in the dictionary that “animal” can mean someone who is repulsive or violent. Second off there is an MS-13 member who committed a murder in Massachusetts whose criminal name was “the animal” so clearly they have no issue being called animal.

There is absolutely no comparison between ethnic genocide and using harsh language on violent criminals, that is pure sophistry

Holocaust and Rwanda sound like pandering to an emotional response.

They are a highly violent gang that traffics in drugs, weapons and people. This coupled with the amount of murder and rape that the group perpetrates is more then enough to permanently disavow them from objective sympathy.

I would have them taken to the border, Shot and then buried in shallow graves. They deserve no better.

Wrong again, I would also have said it if he complained that neo-nazi's were animals and so would most "leftists". But one cannot forget that these people are colored and sadly I have not heard Donald Trump talk about white criminals in such a manner.

And no, people who are progressive and many non-progressive people have an issue with racism, that is not having a racial hangup but acknowledging what the "rightists" refuse to acknowledge, racism is alive and still an issue, not for whites but for people of color.

And the skin color of MS13 has nothing to do with their crimes, but it is glaringly obvious that Trump usually preserves his most vile hatred towards criminals for black people (like the ones in the park who were accused of a crime, which they did not commit, and Trump taking out a full page add in a paper to stress that they should be hanged).

No, this is about why people have a lot less problem with taking someone out if you dehumanize them.

And that someone calls himself animal is his problem, fact is that they are not animals but humans. As said, calling MS13 animals is an insult for all animals.

The salient point regarding Trump and most Americans views on MS13, is not merely that they are heinous criminals, but that their existence in the United States is largely preventable, because they are illegal immigrants who are subject to deportation.

Most white liberals are like you Peter. For the most part, they live as far away from diversity as possible, which affords them their grandiose delusions of possessing generosity towards minorities.

I'm from California, the state where MS-13 originated. I've seen this state deteriorate during my lifetime, because of our commitment to stupidity, namely sacrificing the good of the state in order to push diversity. There are thousands of white homeless men and women on the streets of California tonight because they're addicted to the drugs that MS-13 poison neighborhoods with. If you were really charitable towards the downtrodden, you'd realize that MS-13 are not the ones suffering here.

The assailant in that case was black and also Hispanic, and I think the death penalty is a suitable punishment for him. He's a serial rapist and murderer.

Sure, most liberals live as "far away from diversity as possible", which is your opinion, most liberals live in cities, you know where there is plenty of diversity. Other than a lot of conservatives who live in more rural areas/

And yes, California is where the gang originated after the people fled the was in which the US was also a factor. And the history has been full of blunders towards the gang, making it more dangerous than before.

1. You may belief in the death penalty, I know it is arbitrary and usually racist and more likely to afflict people who are not financially well off. All things that are unacceptable.

2. HUH? I was talking about the Central Park 5. The people who were not guilty of this crime.

Except, he's not actually a rutting pig. ****ty president? I see how some would think so. Horrible person? Deplorable? Mentally ill? Narcicist? Etc. The list of names goes on and on. And for most of them, I can see how some would say that. On a lot I disagree, but at least they are relative.

Calling gang members gang members is somehow not? Somehow the same as calling a human a rutting pig, despite completely different DNA? Curious. Do explain your position?
