Don't know how much he has but I do know he's been living on welfare for a long time.

Fascinating....how many posters here post their feelings. Facts begins with an "F" also. You still do not understand U.S. military inserted in the ancient Sunni vs Shia struggle
is to be avoided because it is counterproductive, pointless.:

Uhhh....I don't think you understood what you read because your response makes now sense.

well, if he's like most politicians, he'll be worth ten times what he's worth now by the time he leaves office.

As in personal wealth, I don't know, and don't care. As in his value, well he has proven worth trillions to stock traders, unemployed and media for sure.

A federal judge estimated his networth in 2011 to be between 200 and 300 million.

Considering he has spent 156 days so far at Trump properties and each day costs millions for the taxpayer and a large portion of that money goes into Trumps pocket, then he is earning quite a bit on that. On the flip side his brand is all but worthless and he made lots of expensive purchases in the years before he became president.. about 400 million. His new golf courses are in the red for 240 million and growing...

So one has to ask...where did he get the money?

Keeping in mind Trumps "John Bannon" deception with Forbes and his refusal to release his tax returns as promised, take whatever Trump says and divide by 10.

That's what he's probably worth. But we don't know his debts and financial liabilities. Trump ran for president to put more money in his dwindling coffers.

Maybe, maybe not. I believe he originally ran as a lark, hoping to gain from the publicity, making you partly correct. However, I don't believe he really expected to win, then he realized the election was not his to win, but Hilary's to lose, and found himself in over his head for a job he joked about for years, but never really wanted. In the meantime, his personal wealth was growing nicely, with licensee payments coming in from the Caribbean, Brazil, Chile, the Philippines, Hong Kong Condominium and luxury hotels and his real property management division from the family brokerage was and is a never-ending cash cow. Plus he had recently sold his interests in the Columbus Circle Condo reaping a return greater than $1 bil, while maintaining management of the 4 floors of the high end retail mall, and the six floors of office space, translating as about $250 mil gross annually. It was a very sweet set of transactions and shared with other real property magnates. That means he or his heirs will also be gaining from future quid pro quo. The city and state governments gained from the transfer and mortgage taxes from the condo units, and the transfers of the two commercial condo units, one for the retail, one for the offices. Plus an increase for real property taxes from the old convention center and hotel of an estimated 2,800% even after abatements.

Over the years I've witnessed about a 1/2 dozen local attorneys run for local offices with intent to lose, rainmaking for their law practices. Worked for all but one, who was elected to the State Assembly. His firm disintegrated from all the pro bono work that came with the office. One of his former partners gained the remainder of the practice, sufficient for a single practitioner, the other a job as a state disability judgeship that paid more than he ever made at the firm and driving cab at nights, plus benefits and a pension. He himself received, after screwing up some other appointment jobs for the state, a State Supreme Court judgeship until he retired, after 4 terms in the Assembly. :)

One of the others, who's father once owned every restaurant in Chinatown, was one of the original six Chinese Attorneys with a practice in Chinatown. He built his practice by running for City Council and losing. You likely know his name from the midtown world famous Chin Chin restaurant, a mainstay for the A crowd for 30 years, now licensed by name to family members in San Francisco, Las Vegas, Houston, Hong Kong, and other assorted locales. He grew up down the block from Trump, who disliked him intensely, because his father owned the largest house in Jamaica Estates. Jealousy. :)

A third who was also never elected to office, is now one of the leading backroom politicians in the local Hispanic communities. His law practice one of the most remunerative here in Queens County. All very nice guys.

No one needs be elected to earn money from politics. :)

BTW, NYC is one of the few places where a mortgage recording tax is due and owing for the privilege of borrowing money. This encourages investment strategies for developers like Donald, instead of mortgages when accomplishing large commercial transactions. And yes, we all travel for foreign money. Or at least send representatives. Doing business.

The issue I was raising, which sailed right over your head

We only see politicians run for office nationally for the most part now....that is the CAREER

Trump is the first to challenge that....

Do we want just career politicians running our country? Do we want people with other experiences, and ideas to change the system we have had?

Maybe Trump was the worst business person to choose....but his election has brought about different things to think about which I think in the long run will be good. Do we need to undress every candidate the way we have for the last 50 years? Do we need to know every little dark secret they want to hide? Look at the two candidates that were left standing for the 2016 election....are they the best we got?

God, I hope not. So why aren’t others running? What is keeping good people with great ideas from throwing their proverbial hat in the ring? Could it be the way we treat candidates? What we ask of them and their family? That is the crux of my question....not on Trump....but when and if another business man/woman runs and they don’t want their empire torn to shreds in the media

Maybe, just maybe....we need to revisit what we ask of candidates, and why it is pertinent.

If you want to run the country the public deserves to know everything about you. If America was a business and the President elected by board members perhaps not, but the American people deserve to have a voice and they deserve to research as much or as little about the candidates as they want to. You seem to be promoting people remain ignorant. Or just because Trump is so bad at so many things, he should get a pass? It doesn't work that way buddy.

why do they have to know everything about a candidate? since when did they requirement start?

i need to know the basics....

i need to listen to the candidate, and do my research on where they stand on issues...because most of us are issues and character voters

the pubs made a BIG deal on Obama's grades....the dems on not getting Trump's tax returns....i dont care about this crap....didnt care about seeing it or not

i think we are digging too deep...and because of it, we are keeping GOOD people from running....scaring them away from what skeletons the press or opposition might dig up from their past....crap they may have done in their teens or early 20's

None of us are saints....we all made mistakes growing up...i want a candidate who is a GOOD person, who has learned from life, and is willing to try and make the country a better place for all of us....

i dunno...maybe it is too late to put the genie back in the bottle

but i know there are GREAT people out there who will not run because of exactly what i am saying....and that is sad....

Your statements are hypocritical. Good people aren't running because they are scared of skeletons in their closet. Good people don't have skeletons in their closets, and it didn't prevent Trump who has a million different skeletons in his closet from running. Plus the click-bait headlines of social media and email chains are not going to go away anytime soon. people have a right to know.

Everyone has skeletons in the closet, including you.
