Dr. Ronny L. Jackson - Qualified to hold the position Secretary Veterans Affairs?
No other- yes or no.

Budget- approx 200 Billion
Employees - approx 377 K

My opinion- Not qualified

No other- yes or no.

Yes

No

Allegations aside - If true they will kill his nomination

Even discounting the accusations that have been made about him, no, he isn’t qualified. Being an MD does not qualify one to run a giant organization, especially one that is far from running smoothly. But with only a couple exceptions, qualifications haven’t mattered much in picking this President’s Cabinet.

As to the size of the budget, management is management. The size of the budget is irrelevant. I could management the next space launch as long as I had the qualified technical people in the proper and required number of positions, as well as the proper size of budget to accomplish the task, the proper time to accomplish the task, and the authority to do what is needed to accomplish the task.

In regard to the VA specifically: The budget number being the proper size is debatable -- I lean toward not. The time factor is not a factor -- it's an ongoing perpetual effort. The number of qualified people is complicated to determine due to the last item in the list above, the authority to accomplish what needs to be done. There are no Executive Branch members of the Cabinet that have the authority to do what is needed to fix problems and/or to accomplish required tasks due to the inability to control the civilian employees who are unreasonably and overly protected from being responsible for their actions or inaction by both unions and the civil service laws.

Now, given all the above, lets get to the fine doctor. He may in fact be a fine doctor. He was assigned by the DoD as the personal physician to the POTUS. However, that has dick-all to do with his qualifications to be a manager. Being a good doctor means your very intelligent, regarding medicine. However, doctors hire business managers, office managers, financial managers, and personnel managers. The doctors manage the medical treatments, but someone else usually manages the business and the people. In other words, most doctors hire a manager to manage the business.

Add to the above, that this particular doctor is a military doctor, and has never had to be concerned with managing anything other than limited number of subordinates, which was mostly taken care of by MSC (medical service corps) officers, and senior enlisted personnel.

So, that was the long answer.

The short answer?

No.

VA is the most complicated Dept and provides a widely diversified range of services to Veterans.
His ego drove him to accept this position- my personal opinion - when he could have gracefully declined

He is a trump yes man. At this point that should have everyone second guessing the President's picks. I must admit though, his one success being Gorsuch, everyone else is not so much.

Is he rich?
Is he white?
Is he willing to sell out any and all morals for profit?

If you cannot say no to any of these then yes he is qualified to hold any office in this regime.

I guess that's making America great again.

Should be obvious. Is obvious.

Isn't obvious to the President and many voters.

He's more qualified than the past few secretaries.

Eric Shensheki wasn't white and turned the VA into a cluster****.

Then there's Bob McDonald. He did a great job of ****ing up the whole show.

Was Obama qualified to be president of the United States? I mean he had almost no experience, especially compared to Hillary. Qualified doesn't mean much. Sometimes you need a fresh face who can look at decisions from an unbiased perspective. So, I didn't vote based merely on qualifications aren't always the number one qualification for a job.

Of course! He was the smartest president ever; a living god. If he said something, it was gospel and if he didn't, it was because the unwashed masses wouldn't understand.

As compared to all the "qualified" experts who have run the VA in the ground!
One qualified expert after another for years who have let the VA fall into a terrible state.
Yea lets get another qualified expert, just what we need at the VA!

He better hope he gets confirmed because after these allegations his Naval career is over.

Ya really have to let go of Obama. Now on the OP?

As usual, Trump never had Dr. Jackson vetted at all. Now he's throwing Jackson under the Trump bus.

Besides the graft opportunities, why anyone would accept a position in this administration is beyond me.

They sure would.
Then there's this ... the last sentence in an AP story about Jackson's travails ...
"Still, a follow-up assessment was done in 2013, and found that the climate in the office had improved a great deal, according to an official familiar with the report. At that point, Jackson was still in the office, but Kuhlman had left."

It occurs to me that like damn near everything in politics we could be looking at competing sides in the aftermath of personnel change.

Have you heard allegations of drinking while on a foreign trip as the President Dr, drunk banging on a staffers door, Secret Service intervened as they were concerned he would wake the President. Needless to say if true, he is done like dinner.

I have no direct knowledge of Dr. Jackson’s behavior, but if the Secret Service were involved, you would think that they would be finding a new POTUS physician.

Yeah I heard the accusations.
Obviously if they can be verified he should be done.
But frankly, the current toxic environment doesn't lend itself to accepting anyone's word by their claim alone.

It was once commonly asked in artists' circles if one would would take a commission for Trump. You had the predictable breakdown in opinion between two obvious camps: One group of artists would turn down the job by taking a principled stand against everything he is and represents, whereas the other group shrugged and said, "Hey, we're professionals. We create art and are paid for it. We're not here to judge the client. Work is work."

I leaned toward the latter option, believe it or not. But it's over a year later and a third option has made itself readily apparent: Take the job, more than likely not get paid for it, and even more likely come out of shamed and with your reputation in shatters.

Did it take a nomination to be VA Secretary for these skeletons to come storming out of Dr. Jackson’s closet? Most of the accusations should have cost Ronny his WH gig. What’s the timing on this?
