I don't think it has to be an either/or proposition. I am, however, concerned about the expanding definition of gun rights.

The incentive is alway there for the government to restrict any and every right, and that must be resisted.

In the end when it comes down to it. Gun Rights are more important, without gun rights, you live in tyranny that as the potential of mass murder..... every single government that has committed mass murder on it's own citizens took away the guns of their subjects legally.

You ask that like you believe the two are mutually exclusive. Why can't you do both?

Not my poll. I simply asked the NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist Poll question here and exactly how they framed it.

Well, in that case you seem to have been sucked in to their false narrative.

The more citizens you have that are armed the less gun violence you'll have. They arent opposing forces.

Controlling violence is more important than just selectively controlling violence caused by guns.

Seems dishonest to frame it that way.

Come on now...we already have numerous laws on the books to control guns and gun sells. What should be added to these laws that wouldn't go against the US Constitution and all the SCOTUS decisions.

I hear a lot of foot stumping but little in the way of what meaningful things that actually should be done.

The real question is, does gun control actually work.

Simple nonsense. The USA has a gun for every man woman and child, and a massive gun violence problem. More guns are not a solution.

Though this is possible in theory, it has been prevented from being attempted in practice by those attempting to do so on almost every attempt. In fact the few successful steps were reversed by those in power.

1 is a right, the other is a desire, you figure out which is more important. I'll go with 1.

Thats a stupid question, we need both equally.Every time there’s one of these shootings, comes the cry for someone in government to do something about it. In 1999 Sandy Hook took center stage for about a month until Thoughts and Prayers played out and reality set it. The reality is, the government is both mentally and physically incapable of dealing with this issue. Stop taking the easy way out by blaming government, it’s our responsibility; do something about it.
So here’s a thought, Through Social Media we change Thoughts and Prayers into Thoughts and Ideas. There is no such thing as a bad idea, there’s bad answers, but not a dumb idea. Maybe you have a thought about how to disarm a shooter from 100 ft. away. Post it on FB remembering there’s no such thing as a dumb idea .Maybe you have a community involvement idea that relates to Community Ammo Reduction. You can call these dumb ideas, but maybe your idea mixed with others could develop into something plausible. Maybe have a community meeting where you meet your neighbors, circulate a flyer with a picture of a high capacity magazine, with a question; see any of these around? Whatever let’s just do something, anything but don’t rely on your Partisan buddies in Washington for help.

The question is irrelevant because gun control does not control violence. London has strict gun control and yet their murder rate is higher than New York City. So, gun control only hurts the rights of law abiding citizens and does little to effect gun violence, including murders.

You can control gun violence without impinging on gun rights.

its a silly choice because gun control rarely is crafted to actually decrease violent crime

what exactly does that mean?

That has never worked anywhere on earth
