Do you know that was for only two months? Do you know NYC is the MODEL of a safe city due to gun control?
Every developed country with effective gun control has low gun deaths. We have lax gun laws and the highest gun ownership in the world and the most gun deaths of any developed nation.
Its not hard to see the problem folks.
These are the gun laws of Russia. I have two questions.Russian citizens over 18 years of age can obtain a firearms licence after attending gun-safety classes and passing a federal test and background check. The licence is for five years and may be renewed. Firearms may be acquired for self-defense, hunting, or sports activities. Carrying permits may be issued for hunting firearms licensed for hunting purposes. Initially, purchase is limited to smooth-bore long-barred firearms and pneumatic weapons with a muzzle energy of up to 25 joules (18 ft⋅lbf). After five years of shotgun ownership, rifles may be purchased. Handguns are generally not allowed. Rifles and shotguns with barrels less than 500 mm (20 in) long are prohibited, as are firearms that shoot in bursts and have more than a 10-cartridge capacity. Suppressors are prohibited. An individual cannot possess more than ten guns (up to five shotguns and up to five rifles) unless they are part of a registered gun collection.

Ok, so what about Chicago and DC. They have much higher murder rates than many American cities despite gun control. Sure, you have St Louis and New Orleans where gun control isn't as strong and have high murder rates but those two are far from being the safest.
Russia is not a developed country. It is ranked as one of the most corrupt countries and it is very easy for the russian mafia to pay off police so they can buy guns. Without rule of law gun control is pointlessThese are the gun laws of Russia. I have two questions.
Is Russia a developed country?
Do you consider the above to be effective gun laws?
If the answer to the first is "yes" then your statement about the US having the highest murder rate of any developed country is false because Russia has roughly half the population but had roughly the same number of homicides in 2015. If you consider these to be effective gun laws, then why is the murder rate in Russia higher than in the US?

They are within 20 minutes of places with lax gun control. Now take NYC. You have to drive over an hour to get to a place with lax gun control. NYC is the safest large city in america.
I am impressed by your confidence.
In any case, "liklihood" is irrelevant. I carry just about everywhere. I have reached the age of 69, and, though having been shot at, I have never been shot. I am pretty sure that I am doing something right.
Want to decrease the likelihood of being shot at or being shot? Stay away from guns.
Thanks for the advice!
Want a way to avoid being misused by evil people? Buy a gun and learn how to use it.
