Do you expect Pompeo to become Secretary of State?

Does Pompeo win Senate Confirmation as Secretary of State?

  • Total voters
    24
  • Poll closed .
Considering he is basically pledging to staff the State Department, and the US is headed into dialogue with North Korea and will have to wade into the Iran deal.....yeah, he will get approved.

As I've already said, the poll doesn't accommodate my thoughts on this topic, so I didn't vote.

Do I want Pompeo confirmed? Hell, no, he not only isn't qualified, but he has a palpable disdain for diplomacy in general.

Do I think Pompeo will be confirmed? Hell, yes. Republican Senate, wishy-washy Democrats who won't want to make waves in purple districts.

Is it a Republican senate? I think they have 51 seats, one being McCain who is home getting treatment. Doubt he will come to Washington to vote. Senator Paul, will probably vote against due to his anti-intervention stance. I think he gets in if he gets several democratic votes.

Which is pretty much what I said.

So because someone referred to Condoleezza Rice as a moron you think it any more acceptable to refer to 2 senators who you disagree with as morons? Yes, sure, that is totally logical from a partisan BS view I guess.

So rather than realize that Rice is not a moron and people who accused her of being a moron were in fact morons themselves for claiming this you think turnabout is fair play? Or is this just political morality, if you don't agree with someone curse them out as morons?

IMHO, the people who called her a moron were wrong to call her that, just like you are wrong to call Booker and Menendez morons. Two wrongs do not make a right.

And I do not defend anyone, I just point out the nonsensical and totally BS nature of your insults towards Booker and Menendez. People who you can disagree with wholeheartedly on their political views but who clearly not morons by any stretch of the imagination.

You just do your argument a disservice if you are unable to disagree with their questions to Pompei without having to resort to the failed policy of name calling.
I'll meet you half way on that one. They are not morons, however they are assholes for their line of questioning. That better?

Everybody is free to think of someone as an asshole. No problemo there.

Now if you want to talk about moronic questions to government officials ;)

How about the dumbo questions asked of Gorsuch, like what was the biggest trout he caught, what was his favorite fishing water, how could he sit there without having to use the bathroom.

And some of Booker's questions where not completely out of the realm of impossibility, like Pompeo's views on gays and on Muslims are somewhat of an important issue for a foreign secretary. But I do agree the questions were a bit assholish.

The Gorsuch hearings are in the past and I do not recall everything about the line of questioning. However the line of questioning by Menendez and the other asshole was out of line. Pompeo's views in regards to sexual orientation are religion based. He is entitled to those views and should not be expected to meet a politically correct standard as long as he treats everyone equally. And on that note, many libruls use the term "bigot" if a conservative criticizes islam. Yet it is quite common in the Muslim communitis in the middle east to toss gays and lesbians off tall buildings or stone them to death.

So much for my wishful thinking. Candy-A__ Rand Paul caves. With a little help from vulnerable DINOs, Pompeo faces an easy vote before the full Senate.

Make note of the others who broke rank: Heitkamp N.D., Manchin WV, and Donelly IN.

As for the full Senate vote, senior GOP aides are comfortable Pompeo will win enough support in his floor vote, after three Democrats said they'll vote for him. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, a North Dakota Democrat, is a "yes," which means he'd have the votes if all other Republicans -- minus Paul -- vote in favor. Sen. Joe Manchin, a West Virginia Democrat, tweeted Monday that he'd support Pompeo as well. And shortly after, Sen. Joe Donnelly of Indiana released a statement supporting Pompeo.

As a proud RINO/DINO I say:
