That is how I remember it too. Small rallies in someone's home or perhaps a gym vs. football stadium size rallies for Trump. I think you're right, Hillary feared larger unscripted rallies, afraid someone would ask her about her E-mails or the Clinton foundation. Trump didn't care. Ask him a question he didn't like, he'd jump all over you and call you some names and brand you a Clinton supporter.

Trump was a master at using the media to his advantage. Hillary shied away from the media which is a strange thing to do when one is running for the presidency. She brought on her own defeat. Democrats and Hillary supporters can go on blaming the Russians and everything else for her defeat, but Hillary alone is responsible. Laziness, ineptness, shyness, and a bunch more.

All I can say is, "Yep, yep, and yep."

A good friend of mine, who is/was a huge Hillary supporter was very upset at the election results, and posted on Facebook the next morning, "Enjoy your **** sandwich, America!" I didn't respond, but I thought to myself, "Well, we had a **** buffet."

Side note: I found it interesting that Trump could call people names all day long and people would just lap it up, but Hillary does it just once (deplorables) and gets crucified for it. Trump's supporters even took it as a badge of honor and ran with it. That's what a cult of personality will for for you.

I probably shouldn't have, but I selected "I have no clue". It's your two-part question that screwed me up. You see, I have no doubt that the use of social media is here to stay. Furthermore, I have no doubt that it'll be used more and more as time goes by. What I couldn't rightfully answer is whether it's a good thing or a bad thing. It really could be either, depending on who is using it and how effectively or ineffectively they use it.

I probably screwed up your poll. But then, that's the problem with ALL polls. They get screwed up.

That's fair. Afterward I thought I should have included "Yes/No, but I don't know if it'll be good or bad" options.

Wait...

Who crucified Hillary? It wasn't the mainstream media. It wasn't their talking potato heads. Well, maybe Fox...but not ANYONE else.

Oh...and when Trump called anyone a name, who was it that objected the most? Yep...the mainstream media and their talking potato heads.

I don't know...maybe you were checking out the campaigns in another country or something.

Yeah, probably. I was in the US, and when it comes to stuff like this you always come off as being in some parallel universe.

That's understandable. I've been called a redneck for some of my views over the years and being from Georgia. We now take being called a redneck a badge of honor also, since Jeff Foxworthy that is. Jeff is from Hapeville which is about 25 miles north of me. Just goes to show you that a derogatory name to some is just the opposite to others.

The Democrats chose the wrong candidate and they chose her four years in advance. Then greased the skids to ensure she won. The Oval Office was theirs, all they had to do was nominate a decent candidate, someone not named Hillary Clinton. They blew it. There were all sorts of polls in the early part of 2016 showing America as a whole, all Americans wanted the Democrats to nominate someone else other than Clinton. The Dems didn't listen to America, they went with their four year pre-determined nominee and that is why we have whom we have as president. Short and sweet. Of course the democrats didn't have to listen to America, it was their right to nominate whomever they wanted. Same for the GOP.

What a lousy choice. Two unwanted candidates and the least unwanted won.

You are correct, which is why the notion that Trump hates the media is completely bogus. Forget Hillary for a second, and look at the GOP primaries. Look at how much free air time Trump got from the media compared to every other Republican candidate. The entire GOP primaries centered around Trump, and Trump uses the media to get publicity, while bashing them on twitter or in person to make himself a sympathetic figure to his fan base. And guess what? It works. Heck, the first time Trump ever bashed the MSM was Fox News, after the first GOP debate. That's right, the same Fox News he now loves because they kiss his ass, was the first major media network he bashed, and his supporters cheered him on for it.

I consider Trump the Reality T.V. President who was essentially given the presidency by the media, even if it was unintentional.

Pretty slick, imo. May be not as presidential as we are used to, but smart.

As for the poll, I voted Yes, and it will be a good thing.. Done well, it reminds me of the fireside chats. Bring your thoughts directly to the people, let them hear from you.

I voted "No, and that will be a good thing" as in future presidents will not copycat Trumps' Junior HS-level Twittering.

Nothing about Donald Trump is worthy of emulation, and his Twittering is right down there with the worst.

I don't think he means intentionally. I think he means that Trump used them and their negative reporting in his own favor.
Ok,o that makes more sense. Yeah, Trump was able to parlay the MSM's open hostility toward him into a positive campaign strategy. I still remember election night when it was clear Trump had won channel hopping to the various channels; allegedly "impartial" reporters had tears in their eyes, grief-stricken expressions and catches in their voice.
