Conservatives urge Trump to grant pardons in Russia probe

After months of criticizing special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe, President Donald Trump’s supporters are issuing increasingly bold calls for presidential pardons to limit the investigation’s impact.

“I think he should be pardoning anybody who’s been indicted and make it clear that anybody else who gets indicted would be pardoned immediately,” said Frederick Fleitz, a former CIA analyst and senior vice president at the conservative Center for Security Policy....

I have a feeling, should the fire get hot, he will attempt it. I think it would be a huge mistake, and if he should get away with it, kiss all oversight in government goodbye. I have a feeling that 30% of his kook aid swilling base wouldn't mind a bit. Good thing there's that nearly 60% think he's unfit to lead.

For the life of me I do not know why Trump has not fired Sessions and Mueller and dissolved the investigation and at the same time issue blanket pardons to anyone even remotely associated with the scandal. He would get away with it and the Republicans would allow him to get away with it and do next to nothing in response.

Trump only has loyalty to one thing and that is himself. Everyone and everything else can be sacrificed to the greater god that is himself.

I suspect that is what he has wanted to do all along and I do not know what is holding him back or for how long he will be restrained.

Probably because he really believes he is guilty of no wrong doing... and doing that would make him look guilty

The restraints are coming off as we speak. He's now congratulated Putin on his massively fraudulent election, despite being strongly urged not to do so. I expect him to become more and more unrestrained, and to attempt more firings sooner rather than later.

As opposed to the other things that he does that make him look guilty?

Yea, believe it or not. I think he believes the FBI is really out to get him undeservingly. Best course is to fight it in court to where he will eventually be cleared of any wrong doing.... but in the mean time, don't give the FBI opertunity to take advantage of him.

Yes , it seems the wheels are fast coming off the cart and he is heading for complete meltdown. I wonder what will happen first... the meltdown with firings and pardons... or ... Trump announces serious health problems and his resignation............. or its the deep state truly playing their ace up their sleeve?

Wow that's some funny stuff right there!

The Guy that just congratulated Putin against his national security recommendation?
Denied any involvement with Russia, but turns out has been eyeing Russian real-estate for decades, including during the election vying for Trump Tower Moscow?
The Guy that hired Flynn despite the warnings he was compromised?
Had the Russian diplomats in the Oval Office "secretly" but Russian photos leaked otherwise?
Covering up the Trump Tower meeting with Don Jr, Hicks, etc.?
The Guy that wlil never talk **** about Putin but will about *everyone* else in the world including is allies?
The Guy that has been tampering with witnesses and getting his attorneys to say Mueller should be fired, etc.?
(and so on until the end of time)

Nonsnese. Any number of senior officials and his attorneys, have talked him off that ledge, in numerous ways. Some threatening to resign, some saying it will end his presidency, etc.
Half the energy spent by his attorneys is simply an effort to get him to behave.

They know it would be the end.

No.

McCabe, Comey...and other yet to be named criminals should NOT get pardoned. Neither should criminals from the previous administration.

Typical, Trump should be able to be corrupt and commit crimes, but we need to manufacture crimes to punish his opponoents? As hypocritical as can be an apparently unaware or proud, either way amounts to the same, more partisan drivel and Trump fellating from you.

I'm thinking you have a twisted idea of what the word "evidence" means.

Trump won. Get over it.

It will confirm for Independents that he's guilty as ****. It will guarantee a Democratic-controlled congress and one term.

As horrible as it may sound, no matter what Trump does, it is preferable to liberals being in charge. Thank God Hillary didn't win.

Well trump is a businessman and a politician, I wouldnt trust a damn thing that he does or says. Ive been burned enough by both professions to know better. In fact I always just assume that they are guilty of something, if not just being dishonest. SO when the president claims to be innocent, or any politician or businessman makes that claim, it just makes me think that they are guilty. Perhaps Trump will be cleared in this investigation, but Trump sure doesnt want that to happen.

I have my doubts he's guilty of anything major, but it sure seems he pissed off the FBI...

I've pissed off a cop before, where a minor accident turned into 7-8 different charges(all of them dropped in court of course)

My choice is:

He'll try and it will fail miserably.

I foresee this semi-final endgame:

Trump will be a dead-to-rights cornered rat.

In desperation he will pardon everyone, including himself.

However, Congress will hold that pardon does not confer immunity from impeachment,
and Congress will convict Trump, and Congress will demand that he vacate his office.

The final endgame will involve the possibility of having to remove Trump by force, but that is
a subject for another thread.

I dont know what Trump is guilty of, but Trump has the acting guilty thing down. Seriously why wouldnt he just encourage the investigation? The more he whines about it the more it interferes with his presidency. And the more he attacks Mueller the more he looks guilty. I think someone told him this was his only change skate.

That would be acknowledging he and "everybody else" were criminals

I know the guy lives and dies over his ego and the admiring fools he inspires, but ultimately I don't think he cares if chareges are made, so long as he gets away with it and his family gets to continue to set policy to benefit themselves financially. For them that's the bottom line, fleece the position and get away with it, clean or not.

He already has encouraged it and discouraged it... many times. I think what bugs him is the media and all the rumors. I think he really does think the FBI is out to get him undeservingly. Whether he does actually deserve it, i don't know.
