Would a Trump impeachment make him a martyr in the eyes of his devoted supporters?

*IF* he were to ever be impeached, of course. It's by no means a done deal. But I think we've seen enough of his supporters to be able to reasonably estimate what their reactions would be.

He's already a martyr just for being under investigation by the Special Counsel.

I voted it would depend on *why*, because I do believe that most of his ardent supporters aren't completely gone, and do have a core sense of right and wrong, but there will be some who will rationalize anything he does. We have roughly half-a-dozen right here in DP right now that I think would be prime candidates for option #1. Shoot, there are people who still defend Nixon.

Probably--but when it comes down to it, who cares what they think? Follow the rule of law.

Special counsel? He was already a martyr because of Alec Baldwin.

Bush I had the class to invite Dana Carvey to the WH to perform his impersonation. Why do I suspect The Donald would never do the same with Baldwin?

Side note: For my money Carvey's Bush I is still the best SNL presidential parody, but Baldwin is a close 2nd.

Impeachment is a two-step procedure, first the allegations, if passed the Senate tries the accused. Two presidents have been impeached, both were acquitted by the U.S. Senate of the charges for which they were impeached.

Not sorry to disappoint, but trumpybear is already a martyr. David D.’s the guy who could bang Stormy D. in the middle of 5th Avenue and have FOX broadcast it live to all the old white men making up their decreasing base.

RIGs = Republicans In Disguise

Phil Hartman's Clinton was pretty good too.

We already know much of what makes up the demographic of the 'Trump base.'

If Trump were removed from office we would IMO most certainly see civil unrest resulting in deaths from some of these rabid hyenas that support Trump.

I wouldn't care how his kool-aid slurping supporters felt.

Impeach the lying scumball and toss his fat ass out onto Pennsylvania Avenue.

I'm not a Trump supporter but do support the POTUS. It would depend on why he was impeached, for example, if he had Mueller fired then I would support impeachment.

He made himself a martyr when he started lying and whining about how the press never reports how big his crowds are, poor baby

A martyr to who? The KKK or neo Nazis ? Trump is there poster boy for the new world order.

trumpcons have been threatening a 2nd civil war with their WMDs and WOWs since the day Clinton was elected. We see it every day on Debate Politics.

We’ve seen the proliferation of fright-wing militias under the guise of being a gun hawk. We’ve even seen DP gunhawks threaten the lives of LEOs if they enforce State's rights not to be slaughtered by WOWs.

At this PMA, Present Moment of Awareness, this will not end well, handing the world to trump’s blackmailer(s) ...

Trump already believes he is a martyr. From last year's US Coast Guard commencement speech:

“Look at the way I’ve been treated lately, especially by the media. No politician in history — and I say this with great surety — has been treated worse or more unfairly,” Trump said. “You can’t let them get you down. You can’t let the critics and the naysayers get in the way of your dreams.”

it doesn't matter; we are screwed either way. As soon as Trump was elected our fate was sealed.

ironic, isn't it? Trump playing the 'victim card' to a base of support that have constantly told liberals they play the victim card all the time.

Only with Trump they eat it up like fried chicken ...............

It wouldn't make him a martyr, as he is not the leader of any real cause. Well, not any of my causes, anyway. For a lot of Trump voters, he was merely an agent of change, be that change good OR bad. To me, his impeachment would only further cement my belief that NOTHING happens within our government outside of the interests of the status quo. Try to go against, and you will be replaced.

There was a time during the Trump administration when I had a certain group of "friends" in here who supported the way I criticized the Obama administration, who quite suddenly became "enemies", an entire list shifted in a matter of days, not weeks.

The main reason for me was that these friends had spent the last 8 years hammering on Obama for a rack of things, EVERY ONE of which became a major staple of the Trump dishonesty campaign. They became what they hated. And didn't even pause for self reflection or even defend the blatant hypocrisy.

One, a major critic, ALWAY beat on Obama for golf and travel....who is silent on the topics now having been baptized in a shameless scam, likely the largest con game ever played,

What is most disgusting, they are intelligent enough to know their hypocrisy which makes them simply evil.

Yes, and most of them are threatening a civil war.
At this point, I've gotten so fed up with the constant telegraphing of their intentions that I've decided it's time to take their telegraphed threats seriuously, and to prepare.
Bring it on, whining bitches, bring it on, because at this point I've been hearing the same threat for a wide variety of complaints.

"If we don't get to take over federal installations, we're going to start a civil war."
"If Trump gets impeached, we're going to start a civil war."
"If Hillary gets elected, we're going to start a civil war."
"If Bernie is elected, we're going to start a civil war."
"If black people get their voting rights restored to them under a new Voting Rights Act, we're going to start a civil war."
"If you don't let us make bein' a librul into a crime, we're going to start a civil war."
"If you tear down our n****r hatin' Confederate statues, we're going to start a civil war."
"If you don't let us march with our Nazi and Klan flags and threaten Jews in synagogues, we're going to start a civil war."
"If you don't let us have our child molestin' senator-man in Bama, we're going to start a civil war."
"If we don't get to make Murrikuh into a "Chris-cheeyuns only ****ry", we're going to start a civil war."
(and it's got to be "are kinda chris-cheeyunz")

Let's just have the civil war and get it over with. If your ideas are so great, then you're a cinch to win, and there won't be a damn thing we can do about it, and you're gonna get to make Amurrikuh great again whether we like it or not, whether we get to vote or not.
If your ideas "AIN'T" so great however, I don't think America is going to be quite so merciful like we were at the end of the original Civil War, the one you LOST 165 years ago.

Republicans love 'civil war' ............ just ask ole honest Abe .......... wait ............

That would be a martyr of sorts, even if you're not a die-hard supporter. You're saying he would be impeached, not because of what he did that was wrong, but what he did that wasn't wrong.
