Farm subsidies

Yes and yes. I would not be surprised to see Trump want to cut the programs drastically. He has no comprehension of farming. America helps feed the world.

Big farms and farmers in general, at least in our area, tend to vote Republican.
 
Every year, $20 billion goes to farmers in the US.

Opponents of farming subsidies say that many of these subsidies go towards big farming companies as opposed to family owned farms and that in general, these subsidies are unnecessary.

Proponents of subsidies say that they're necessary for food security.

And then there's the NAFTA negotiations when those subsidised farms want access to foreign markets.

I am not ok with

According to the Government Accountability Office, between 2007 and 2011 Uncle Sam paid some $3m in subsidies to 2,300 farms where no crop of any sort was grown. Between 2008 and 2012, $10.6m was paid to farmers who had been dead for over a year.

Most of the money goes to big, rich farmers
