If the taxpayer is paying for the food the government has every right to require healthy food purchases. That's not socialism, but of course food stamps itself is a socialist program. And the government has every right to require ID that keeps the system honest. When you provide the money for something, you have a say in what's purchased with that money.

Not when it is public policy that is causing that dilemma. A natural rate of unemployment is what Capitalism costs; for Individual Liberty and bottom line purposes.

Equal protection of the law regarding the legal concept of employment at will, is more proper, and more necessary.

Baloney. Unemployment isn't unique to Capitalism. Every economic system ever seen has had it's share of poverty and unemployment. At least Capitalism creates enough wealth so that the poor and unemployed can be provided a safety net. Most systems historically just let the poor starve or they depended on the charity of others. Only in modern Capitalism do people feel they are entitled to support provided by taxpayers.

Since the taxpayers are so graciously providing that money, through the government, which they fund, the government has every right to see to it that the money is spent as wisely as possible. More than that; the government has a duty and responsibility to see that the money is spent wisely.

lol. Nobody takes the right wing seriously about economics. Command economies have no cyclical unemployment.

Personally I wouldn't take someone seriously if they said this without also mentioning the fact that unemployment rates aren't really a good economic indicator in a command economy.

"Sensible" means "stuff Lord of Planar doesn't think the poors should have," though.

I think most agree that items beyond the basics are not needed to be paid for by tax payers, like candy, soda, prepared gourmet meals, eating at McDonald's, etc.

Only national socialists are for, Infringing upon Individual Liberty.

You are a national socialist if you expect my tax dollars to pay for your food. I think I deserve a say in seeing it is at least spent wisely. If people don't weant restricted food choices, get off of SNAP and pay your own way instead of from "other people's money."

I think we should blame free trade and illegal immigration. Not capitalism in general. Yes, some do abuse capitalism. There are people who will abuse any system, so don't blame capitalism. Blame the individuals who abuse the system.

Nobosy takes people who talk like you, serious, except for other like minded "blame the others" type people.

This is one of the few things I agree with you on. There are workers counted who are under paid, part time wanting full time, and those who stopped looking for work. I'm sure factors I didn't think of off the top of my head too.

We have stong values of money in our system. they just end up going the wrong places, and not as much as should in the hand of we, the people.

So...

You agree the trade deficit is hurting us, right?

You don't know what you are talking about. The power to Tax your dollars is delegated to Congress, to pay the debts, and provide the common defense and general welfare.

Yes, but it was never meant to subsidize able bodied workers, or their responsibility to have kids they can't properly raise.

Why do you say that? The rich get bailouts and tax cuts after bailouts, all the time.

Oh please stop with that childish BS. There are plenty of wrongs everywhere. That doesn't make it right... Two wrongs do not make a right!

Almost every federal tax payer got a tax cut, but guess what... If you don't pay taxes, what is there to cut?

Bailouts for the rich? Now the general Motors bailout was stupid. I think there was a bailout dealing with the burst of the housing bubble, but these are rare.

Why do you think the rich should pay a larger percentage of their income than you do?

Now as someone who pays more than $10/hr of my wages in federal and state taxes, I have every right to be critical of how it is spent.

The poor get too many handouts. Some don't work because the handouts are better than work available. This is very pathetic of our system

The general power is, to provide for the general welfare. Corporate welfare happens on a regular basis. It really is that simple.
