Simple question.

Schiff has demonstrated complete honesty for the pst year. He should run for President and I would enthusiastically vote for him.

I trust Schiff (clearly the Good Guy) more than Nunes (clearly the Bad Guy). Nunes personifies the modern day Evil Politician.

Did you see the movie "Ghost"? I can picture Nunes dying and Ghouls coming to carry him away!

I just want to know the truth. Let's get ALL the facts on the table and end all the politicizing from all sides. Everyone puts their cards on the table and let justice be done.

RIGHT ON.....facts and truth, not the identity of the the people who are selling ideas all to often for personal gain...... that is what matters.

This is a situation where you cannot get all the facts.

"Classified" status might potentially be used as a shield, but there's no reason to conclude that it's always a shield. So there are going to be quite a few things we don't know.

I don't trust either one more than the other.... wait for the FACTS.... you haven't even read the damn memo lol.

You're saying that something isn't truth before you even read it, before you even know ANY sort of evidence whatsoever....

This country is insane.

This government has long refused to be transparent because they know full and well that if the people knew what they were doing we would object....that combined with all of their lies and incompetence is why they are rapidly losing the confidence of the nation.

The only solution is to tell the truth...all of it.

Simple question.

Nunes is irresponsible and dishonest bordering on insane. Yeah, Schiff is kind of partisan, but until he pulls 1/8th the number of stunts Nunes pulled in the last year then the two shouldn't even be in the same sentence.

That's all fine and good and all but the problem is we cannot determine the "truth" from the coming memo. From what I've read, few (about a handful in the House) can even see the underlying intelligence, and in fact Nunes reportedly hasn't seen it. We might get to see SOME of that intelligence, but given most of it is Gang of Eight level classified, viewable only in secure locations, vast amounts of it will never be seen by anyone not in the tiny few cleared for viewing it.

So we will have to trust someone, whether we like it or not. That's why what Nunes is doing over the past year really is so dangerous. He's made it impossible for people like me to trust ANYTHING he says is complete and fairly represents the totality of the evidence. It didn't have to be that way. I disagree with a lot of things being said by GOP Senators on the Intelligence committee, but for the most part I trust that if that Committee produces a bipartisan report, I can trust its conclusions. Well, hell, the House intelligence committee doesn't even pretend to operate that way, and hasn't since Nunes' stunt last spring. It's really a dangerous path we're on... We have to trust someone but we can't trust anyone. So what do we do?

Frankly, I'll put a lot of faith in the Democratic response, but at the end of the day it will be the Senate or Trump appointees in the FBI and DoJ who will sway my final opinion. They're the only ones left worth listening to, and that's taught for me to say with Sessions one of those guys. I have to admit, his integrity has impressed me in many ways.

Pissing Trump off by recusing himself surely occupying the #1 slot......

Keep in mind that as this government continues to lose its credibility and thus its mandate/legitimacy its right/ability to put the people off with "It is a secret" shrinks.

Pretty easy question. Nunes already publicly disgraced months ago, resulting in his fake "recusal."

It's hard to watch his bizarre actions and not wonder if his time on the Trump transition team resulted in some very serious legal exposure for him.

Cong. Joaquin Castro of Texas put it well today, that Nunes is a sacrifice fly for Trump.

Baseball is of course out of season but spring training is coming on soon.

So in football terms we could also call Nunes a Hail Mary Pass to Trump stumbling spastic beyond the end zone. (Where we can see the nutcase holding up the card, "John: 23".)

Not particularly - wasn't thinking about that at all in fact. He was forced into that, so gets little credit from me for that.

Not sure what your point is at relates to this issue. The odds are nearly 100% none of us will see the intelligence, cannot therefore make an independent evaluation of the "truth" and so will have to trust SOME ONE in government.

Simple question.

All one has to do is look at Nunes' behavior. The way he's functioned as a henchman for Trump and as a result of his non-objectivity as chairman of a very important committee - logicly one would have to trust Nunes less.

If someone can come up with an example of Schiff behaving like Nunes has, I promise you I'll take a look at it.

How would you judge the truthfulness of the memo, if it is released?

“The only person who is going to benefit from it being released is Vladimir Putin. He’s going to find out more about our sources and how we knew that various associates of Donald Trump were collaborating with the Russians.”

He does seem very motivated to muddy all waters.

Frankly, it seems like he's a week away from taking a restaurant full of patrons hostage at gun point and demanding an end to the investigation.

As an executive member of the Transition team he may be just trying to cover his arse. Incidental collection, perhaps?

I started a thread on Schiff nearly 10 1/2 months ago & members here were crapping all over Schiff ............. why the praise now?

https://www.debatepolitics.com/brea...tapping-claims-comey-testifies-3-20-17-a.html

It's a matter of perspective. Schiff is a partisan, but in the time since you started that thread, any faults of his have been so perfectly eclipsed by Nunes' actions that he seems like the model of temperance and bipartisanship by comparison.

Devin Nunes hometown paper the Sacramento Bee in the strongly Republican district can't take it any more either....

Rep. Devin Nunes, Trump’s stooge, attacks FBI

BY THE EDITORIAL BOARD

Updated 7 hours 20 minutes ago

What, pray tell, does Rep. Devin Nunes think he’s doing by waving around a secret memo attacking the FBI, the nation’s premier law enforcement agency?

OHMAN032517color

He certainly isn’t representing his Central Valley constituents or Californians, who care much more about health care, jobs and, yes, protecting Dreamers than about the latest conspiracy theory.

Instead, he’s doing dirty work for House Republican leaders trying to protect President Donald Trump in the Russia investigation.

It’s no accident that this latest attempt to discredit the FBI and distract the public is happening at the same time special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe appears to be picking up steam – and focusing on possible obstruction of justice by the president.

Meanwhile and relative to the poll and thread topic....

Schiff rises, Nunes falters in Russia investigation

As Americans take stock of the two California congressmen helping to lead the Russia investigation, the contrast could not be starker.

Rep. Adam Schiff of Burbank, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, has been a calm, smart voice at the center of a political hurricane.

Rep. Devin Nunes of Tulare, the Republican chairman of the committee, has proven to be, first and foremost, an apologist and surrogate for President Donald Trump.
