Are the Religious Right Hypocrites?

Are the Religious Right Hypocrites?

In my view the biggest hypocrites to come out of the 2016 election are the religious right, who are still standing by their top guy after having an affair with a porn star and all the sexist/racist comments that he's made!!!! I think it's pretty immoral to suggest that getting a BJ from an intern in the WH is immoral but NOT sleeping with a porn star. :lamo

Pat Robertson once called President Clinton: a “debauched, debased and defamed” leader. Yet he's proud of Trump??

Getting a BJ and severe accusations of Rape... or did you completely forget that for some reason?

Careful.. your double standard is showing.

..."But what would Jesus do?" Re-re Matthew 25.

My guess is that he'd register as a democrat.

He couldn't, the Democrats kicked God off their platform.

Of course it did, they are absolutely hypocrites. So are the people on the far left. All extremists are hypocrites. Do you have an English comprehension problem or something?

Yawn. The point of the thread is the religious right, not 'all extremists', but your need to deflect from that isn't surprising.

Intellectual cowardice is just so unbecoming.

Religious people are no more hypocrites than either the far left or far right. They all have a right to their views and to be heard without some nut case calling them hypocrites.

No one has a right to have their views heard without criticism. What a ridiculous notion.

Religious people are no more hypocrites than either the far left or far right.

Oh yes, they abso****inglutely are. You don't get to go around preaching about moral superiority and sin while ignoring the fact that your own leader is guilty of more sin than all your opponents combined.

Everyone, at some point in their lives, is a hypocrite. It's part of the job of being human. ;)

That said: It is screamingly obvious that the members of the religious right who proclaim that "character matters, unless it's our guy" are hypocrites. So are culture warriors who oppose adultery, no-fault divorce and corruption, yet give a pass to elected officials on "their side" a pass for those behaviors. Worst yet IMO, and not limited to political persuasion, are those who say we should fight for freedom -- and then turn around and restrict the freedom of others.

That said: We should note that there are quite a few members of that group which retain their integrity, and do not defend debased elected officials out of political expediency. I have no idea how many people fall into that group; I'd guess it may be as much as 1/3.

No, the point of this thread is to dog-pile on one group while completely ignoring the exact same sins on the other side. And that is pure hypocrisy.

No, it's not, and I'm not at all surprised the point of this thread sailed right over your head.

Or that you're ideologically incapable of seeing the obvious truth before your eyes.

No, not at all. I see the irrelevancy of "Yeah, but both sides do it!!!!" in a thread that isn't about both sides

You don't see the relevancy of pointing out that it's a problem on both sides? Of course not because you don't want to acknowledge that your side is every bit as guilty.

Thus, you are a hypocrite.

No, not in this case, since the thread is specifically about the religious right, not 'both sides', no matter how much that upsets you.

Have someone explain 'hypocrisy' to you. It doesn't mean what you think it does.

No, the thread is entitled "Are the Religious Right Hypocrites?". It is not a discussion of other groups. If you wish to debate the proposition that "XYZ people" are hypocrites feel free to start that thread.

Bear in mind that "whataboutism's" are a weak argument that includes an admission of the main proposition. They are, in essence, a "yes, but" argument. Thank you for your admission.

Then let's make a thread asking if the Religious Left are hypocrites.

You're just jealous...

You're making a blanket statement, I'm religious but I don't support Trump, and neither do I support Hillary... I have no dog in that race, they're both two sides of the same coin.

Of course they are, but one is going to win and the only rational choice anyone has is picking the lesser of the evils, which we did.
