With all due respect, if Americans living in Haiti or El Salvador are now in danger because Trump said "****hole" then those places really must be ****holes. That's not the way life works in civilized nations.

Now, seriously, other than the vulgarity, what's the difference between calling a country a ****hole and putting out a travel advisory against visiting there? The same impression would be left either way.

I think it is racist to say Swedes are superior to these other groups that Trump is insulting with his comments, because its based on stereotypes and ignoring different political situations in these countries. A Syrian man could make for a good US citizen and a Swede could make for a bad one or vice versa, it all depends on the individual.

The romanticized notion about an assimilated culture, one or even multiple generations hence is largely false. It has its pieces, granted, but as Glazer's later work continued to show was that cultural conservatives looked at this issue much too simply.
