Is there a chance you might vote for Oprah Winfrey for POTUS?

That's because she has taken fewer chances on big projects - assuming you are correct that is. Big-time investors and builders and risk-takers always have a few failures in the wake of successes. That's the way it goes. Trump is a builders and a risk-taker who has built a global empire. Oprah is just a talk-show blowhard, a lardass who started out saying her lines on the news and then got a talk show. Big friggin deal

Trump used bankruptcy laws to take risks with other peoples money and still walk away with more than he started with if it fell through.

He fully admitted to "Using bankruptcy laws to his advantage" during the election. It's not illegal, but neither is it admirable. Ask the investors who got screwed.

As an unaffiliated conservative, I can't answer your poll.

Yes...No...hell, who knows? Not me. I don't know all that much about Oprah and I didn't watch that speech.

Let's see...I know she's done a little acting, but I haven't seen her movies. I know she had (has?) a daytime TV show, but I've never watched it. I guess I'm aware that a lot of people...Hollywood-loving liberal types, I think...absolutely LOVE her. Shrug...

I don't know anything about her politically. I don't know anything about whether she has experience leading anything. So, I just can't answer the poll.

If you are an unaffiliated conservative are you not just a conservative leaning independent?

After her speech of yesterday at the Golden Globes (but i heard the same stuff in years past), people are posting on social media that it might be a good thing for Oprah to run for president.

How would people here feel about that candidacy?

Since the question is "could" i vote for her the answer is yes i could in the right circumstances BUT Ill basically just repost what I posted in the other thread...

I could vote for her depending on my choices and if I thought she could win over someone else, but please dont let he be among my choices, I hope for better ones!
Now mind you if my choice was ONLY Oprah or Trump Id pick Oprah every day and twice on sunday BUT thats not what I want.

I really really really hope this will not be the path AMERICA goes down (electing celebrities and TV personalities)

The ONE good thing I thought would come from a trump presidency was the more dramatic departure from the two party system (not right of way of course but faster). And I thought electing him would also increase the ability for independent to run and win. Not this.

Hopefully people dont get it in their heads since Trump ran and won that just anybody should be running because that is scary, how could we not learn from our mistakes. I know that Trump winning does send that message, it shows they we will just vote for anybody but again, thats not what I want.

Lastly to be fair to Trump its only been a year and Trump "could" prove to be an OK president by 2020 . . its too early to completely judge. I mean I know so far its been a disaster in regards to him as a person, as president, but we have no clue yet what impact he may have in certain areas like jobs or economy yet. Maybe in 4 years the growth that has been going on for years keeps going?

Anyway Oprah > trump but REAL QUALIFIED CANDIDATES > than either Oprah or Trump.

I wouldn't want her to run, however, I think she could beat Trump easily with the minority and female vote. The issue here is the same one I've had with Trump though, I don't think Trump nor Oprah are competent enough politically to be president. It's really sad that Trump supporters have sold their souls just for a win and I hope Oprah doesn't run because there will be many on the left doing the same thing.

I would if I agreed with her policies.

I would agree, compared to competent political leaders she is not really that qualified, but compared to Donald Trump I do think she has qualities that make her more qualified than Trump (IMHO).

Shrug....sure.

Isn't that what an independent is in the USA? Not a supporter of either 2 main political parties?

I don't want to be a right fighter but that is why I made the options democrats, republicans and independents so that everybody would be able (except me, that is why I did not vote) to give their opinion.

about the same i feel for Jesse Ventura, Kanye. or any other of a number of celebrities who have no place in national politics (and yes, Trump leads the group)

the closest thing to a celebrity i could vote for is someone like Colin Powell, or Condoleeza Rice.....they have fame, but for the right reasons in my opinion

Now the one that is unusual, and i have to learn more about is Mark Cuban....i dont know much about his politics, but he is super sharp, a great businessman, and very easy to listen to

lol...because starting a television network isn't a risk.

I don't think she should be president either, but when you drop lines like "Oprah is just a talk-show blowhard, a lardass who started out saying her lines on the news and then got a talk show. Big friggin deal" is going to get you laughed out of the forum. Trump is just a reality TV show actor with multiple failed attempts at business, the ultimate blowhard, a lardass who got handed a family business while doing all he could to stay out of the military, and low brow Kool Aid drinkers like yourself gave him the presidency. Big friggin deal.

Kanye? :shock::shock:

One of the least qualified individual in that list. Even Trump would run rings around that guy (well figuratively that is because Trump and running, not sure those 2 words really make sense together ;) ) because in the literal sense Kanye could run rings around Trump (if not for Trump's secret service protection).

But really, Powell and Rice are tainted to a great degree by the debacle of the aluminum tubes/Bush the younger/Iraq debacle. But let us be honest, to find a non-polarizing politician with ample experience in all the right fields in either party is going to be a real problem. I think at least that is going to be a real problem.

The GOP has been slowly being reformed into the Trump Organization Party. The GOP even sent out a request for people to sent birthday wishes to Eric Trump from their official account.

And the democratic party is maybe splitting internally up into several factions who will have a real issue to agree upon one candidate. Hillary is of course poison to the party if they want to win in 2020 but who then? I am not sure. And that is why someone like Oprah or Michelle Obama might be attractive to the democrats. Those are 2 women the entire party might be able to rally behind.

I don't know why it's a big deal to you if I call myself unaffiliated or independent.

Maybe I worded my original response incorrectly. Maybe I should have just said I can't respond to your poll because I don't know anything about the woman, though, that's pretty much what I did say.

NBC has made up their minds. Wait -- aren't they supposed to be unbiased journalists?

My cat is more qualified than Trump, and I wouldn't vote for him either.

Kanye has said he is running in 2020

whether or not he was kidding, joking is another issue

Can you imagine a Kardashian as the first lady?

and you thought Trump set the bar low....

As we learned with Trump, the reality is that people will only answer this after the primary.
She'd be a lot better than Trump, but I'm not interested in another celebrity president. Gotta space those out, give the nation some time to get back on it's feet.

Vote for her when? In the primary? Extremely unlikely.

In November 2020? If she's the alternative to Donald, I would have no choice but to vote for her.

lol...if Trump has taught me anything, though, it's that the second you start laughing at the possibility that someone can be president, you essentially guarantee them the win...

I think Oprah would be as scary, if for different reasons... Yes, she has class, while Trump has none. Yes, she has empathy, while Trump has none. Yes, she commands respect, while Trump commands none (other than the kind of respect being the figurehead of a massive economy with access to launch codes gets you). She even has been a successful business person, rather consistently throughout her career, becoming a billionaire...while, well, you get the idea. I mean, I guess one could argue that a president really is the sum of their subordinates, and that most of the heavy lifting gets done downstream...it would just be nice if you guys had someone there that understood what happened downstream a little more, especially after this guy gets his walking papers...I'm sure some cleanup will be in order.

If the only 2 choices would be Trump as a republican or Kanye as a democrat I would vote Trump (not that this is possible, I am not a US voter but just saying).

And the only Kardashian woman I would want to see in the white house (and that is only if I had to make a choice between them) is Kourtney K. but especially not Kim K. that lady just rubs me the wrong way in every sense of the word.

It would. Dems tend to like intelligent candidates so I am hopeful that trend persists. Republicans like showy, celebrity puppets that they can roll over behind the scenes. Reagan, GWB, Trump, all of these guys were "handled" in a big way. Trump of course fights it tooth and nail when it comes to messaging, but he lets everyone else run the real stuff like the moron he is. Who knew health care was so complicated!?

Democrat and unqualified. Pro gun control and yet has her own private security team. She is just another self important and self entitled Hollywood loser...she’d fit right in with federal politicians. But I won’t for her...because she is a democrat.
