One of the new laws taking effect this January in California, is one that states parents will no longer be required to state the gender of new borns when filling out the birth certificate:

On Jan. 1, California is basically becoming a different state.
Come September, parents won’t be required to list gender on their children’s birth certificates.

I personally think all of our modern day adult neurosis concerning gender, race, sexism and other psycho-babble crap du jour issues should be kept out of the lives of children.

E pluribus unum. Maybe not all States will follow this but it's fine by me that a State wants to experiment with it, it strengthens our diversity and social knowledge.

Judging from the Californian perspective, why should the State be involved in telling a parent which gender their child is? As gender is a social construct, it's none of their business. Their sex however is easily discernible, except of course in the cases of the intersexed.

Great idea kids grow and develop at the same rate till seven or eight, but the stereotypes are socialised into them before that. Boys are encouraged to run, throw, climb rtrees all that "adventurous stuff, where girls are set towards quiet demure indoors life, and it shows when they arrive at kindergarten. This prog was about 8 yr olds.

Crazy, crazy times we are living in.

Oh jeeeeeeeeeeeeez. I hadn't heard this one yet. How utterly and totally stupid. That's what happens when you have too many potheads. I don't see how they can do this when it comes to all sorts of statistics that need to be kept for the good of mankind, research, etc. Guess there can't be any discrimination any more though. Much harder to discriminate if there is no such thing as men and women. Seriously. If a "woman" files a discrimination case and it is later found that her birth certificate doesn't show she is a woman, then how can there be discrimination?

What is the benefit of having an M or F on your birth certificate? I chose good because I genuinely see no real use for it.

It's neither good nor bad, it's just kind of ridiculous.

How is the birth certificate having no mention of gender "in their lives"? It's the absence of information. It's irrelevant.

I wish you'd make sense in a few posts here and there to mix things up and keep us on our toes.

Oh look, more liberal stupidity. Anyone surprised?

Wait a minute.
A law saying parents aren't required to put gender on the form when registering birth says they're 'genderless babies'? Puts psycho-babble in the lives of children?

Bait thread.

What difference does it make to you, if a stranger's baby has an empty tick-box on a form you will never see? Dressing it in pink or blue will change the way you will react to it and treat it, because you will impose your idea of "gender appropriate" responses where none are required. Interestingly, a century ago, the colours were reversed, and pink meant boy.

I am not surprised. Just sorry it has reached this point before good people say enough.

This whole gender bender crusade has been in full force for the past decades. Most indoctrination has been in public schools. and campuses receiving federal funding.

Some of the things the medical community are promoting when it comes to young people in regard to gender identity is nothing but pure child abuse.

Minds of mush at such a young age being filled with crap and drugs to suppress who they really are.

I hope there is a special place in Hell for those who have been part of this disgusting agenda.

You have to understand, Max, the conservative's need to regulate everything in our pants is all about control. Pure and simple. Everything they want to regarding sex and gender stems from that.

Allegations of child abuse, wishing people to go to Hell, and calling your opponents' positions "disgusting." These are some extraordinary claims you are making. Care to back them up with some extraordinary evidence?

There is a plethora of information out there on the web in regard to this topic for anyone interested in the truth instead of being sheeple .

I did my research, why don't you try doing your own and prove me wrong.

Less than 1% of children are diagnosed with Gender Dysmorphia. 11% of children are diagnosed with ADHD. Should we be telling children they can be "behaviour fluid" and don't have to conform to societal standards until they decide whether they have ADHD or not?

Gender is an important part of a child's identity, and by denying children that I suspect that harm is being committed. Gender stereotypes should not be enforced, and people should be aware of how they interact with children to minimise the development of bias, but that is not the same as denying children a key part of their development.

You made the inflammatory accusations, you produce the evidence to back them up. I await them.

Well, it makes sense to allow this.

Assuming you agree with the science which says it is possible for a person to have a different gender mentally than their biological body would suggest, it logically follows that children have been and will continue to be born with biology that differs from their gender.

Taking this to the max, I know there are people who make specific effort to raise children in a environment that tries to not influence their mental development towards any gender.

That kind of thing does make me wonder to what degree gender is formed by nurture as opposed to nature.

Could we get something that is "stupidity-neutral"? I no longer dare to hope for intelligence (especially from a blue state), but could you, at least, offer the public something that lacks stupidity?

What's between a person's legs isn't a 'suggestion'. I understand that some people feel they were born into the wrong body, and some people think they're space aliens. At any given time, there's thousands of people who think they're Jesus Christ. Yet only 1 of those 3 examples of identity disorders is 'normal'. Why?

Gender is formed during week 7 of pregnancy. Identity disorders can occur at various stages of development, and for a host of various reasons.

How exactly does this strengthen our diversity?

They never were. It was the parents decision to check Male or Female on their child's birth certificate.

As gender is a social construct, it's none of their business. Their sex however is easily discernible, except of course in the cases of the intersexed.

If current trends continue, I can see a time when race, name, and weight are removed from birth certificates as well.

Race- who are we to tell a child what race they are? Race is a social construct.
Name- shouldn't children get to name themselves? Names are a social construct.
Weight- what if a child is born weighing 10 pounds? Might they develop body issues from knowing they were a chubby baby? Surely we must remove Weight, as ideals of beauty are a social construct.

Your descriptions sound like they're from the 1800's manc. My nieces and nephews both run around, play outside, throw stuff, climb things, etc.

Where are these girls being pushed into "demure indoors life", in 2018? Certainly not in the 1st world.
