I agree completely

In fact let's reform "welfare" to give the most unable to support themselves a raise every year and a special bonus if they beget another that they are unable to support - double that bonus if they can't (or won't) name the baby daddy. After all, the difference between a being a poor person and a needy household is the addition of a dependent child.

IT CAN NOT WORK ANY OTHER WAY IN A DEMOCRACY. Perhaps you can show me one where it does not work that way

I have no idea what you are talking about. A democracy is not a financial model. Which, BTW we are not.

And if they don't they should starve. Especially their kids. Is that correct?

If you are physically able to work but choose not to, then it is your own fault. If you can't afford to take care of yourself, why would you have kids? We in live in a time where there is abortion on demand, free birth control and condoms. It is ridiculous to use kids starving as an emotional plea when there are so many avenues they could have taken to prevent having children in the first place.

You are not answering the question. Do you let the kids starve?

Sounds great

No, best option would be to take the kids out of that home. Better for a family that can provide for the children then someone that can't even take care of themselves much less children.

That's great but what about the cash they get for sitting on their ass?

where do you get the idea that people get cash to sit on their asses? if you have a 401K are you getting cash to sit on your ass? do you think anyone who invests money "gets cash to sit on their asses? do you ridicule people who invest rather than spend?

I think perhaps its an incorrect premise, and it has things a bit reversed.

If one focuses on who is wealthy and who is not, one is not doing what one needs to do to succeed. If one wants to succeed in life and earn a good living, one needs to graduate high school with C+ average grades or better. It would be best to follow high school with college or a tech school. One should know what they want to do for a career. One should research what it takes to get into that field of work. One could do research to find out what the career path would be beyond the beginning position and find a way to prepare oneself for that beginning position. When interviewing for the beginning position, one might tell the interviewer that one has a career goal to achieve the next higher level or even the one beyond that. Then tell the interviewing person that if that is not possible to achieve, please do not offer me the entry position. Further say, that I want to be the best whatever the company has and I want people to keep their eye on me and let me know how I am doing as I progress. If you get the job, you then work your rear off to be the best whatever that the company has. If you perform well, there will be raises. If you perform well, there will be a promotion to the next level. This is just one way of how to succeed. I am sure there are others.

The next step is to budget your money well and ensure that you put money aside for yourself. Have a rainy day fund so a car problem or something else arises, you have the money for it. As your income increases put more money away for retirement. I would offer a suggestion of how to increase your net worth, but I have found many here do not believe in the market. I do and it has paid dividends.

Don't be envious of those who have more. They will always have more. Control your own destiny and be successful. One day, you just might wake up and find out that you have enough money to retire and travel the world. It can happen, but it is up to you.

Inherited wealth.

That can't happen that would require self discipline, self responsibility and lastly HARD WORK! nope they just want to complain how the people that invented something and had something and had a product or service to offer make to much money.... They also never talk about that millionaire investing in Jimmys dumb poll questions inc. and the Business going bankrupt and the investor lost everything. Nope you'll never hear these socialist Libs say that! They never talk about monies lost trying to create all they think about is what they don't have!

I can answer that

Yes, yes and yes.

It appears there are a few people on this forum that are really bent out of shape regarding inheritances and investments. It's like jealousy or envy. I can be envious but at the same time not begrudge someone else something I do not have.

Personally, I could never knowingly support letting a child starve.

That ideology is a driver of the welfare state and single parent households - very bad for those children you purport to care so much about. Simply being a poor adult does not get one nearly as much benefit (love?) from the numerous "safety net" programs but adding a dependent child (or two or three) to the equation suddenly transforms them into a needy household greatly increasing that, all important, "access to" a vastly increased array of "safety net" goods and services.

If believing that it's not okay to knowingly let a child starve is seen as a bad thing by some folks, then I'm more than okay with that. At the end of the day, I can only answer to myself and I'm fine with my position.

Yet you would knowingly let that child be raised by someone that would likely be denied permission to adopt a pound puppy.

Shocking Report Shows America's Top 1% Now Richer than Bottom 90% COMBINED

I would suggest reading the article, as it's not long.

Basically, from what I can gather from this article, our tax dollars go to the wealthy in this country. I personally don't think that that should be the case.

What do you think?

To the extent that tax dollars are transferred to wealthy individuals without any exchange of services, that is certainly wrong. However, the article does not make that case. Instead it claims that not taking money from a corporation is a subsidy, which it isnt as no exchange of money has occured. Or that the govt PAYS them for a some product they want. Unless some poor person or small business can produce a fighter jet, I dont see an alternative.

On the other hand, about a trillion dollars in actual tax dollars is directly transferred to individuals, nearly all of them in the bottom 99%, in the form of various welfare programs, without any exchange of services. Food stamps, student grants, health care, housing assistance.
