Simply put. What are your biggest news stories of 2017? Which of the following choices affected you the most personally?

I don't like Trump or how he has twisted his narrative to make everyone who doesn't agree with him into someone who has a personal vendetta against him and that the public can't or shouldn't disagree with him. But the two stories that impacted me more than Trump are the shocking sexual assault allegations around the country, and the stuff that was said by members on this forum and people IRL directly after Charlottesville. SAD! :(

2017 was such a wild god damn year when put into perspective.

Hell, remember how mad we all were when Obama uttered out the "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor" line and held him accountable for those words? Meanwhile just in the last week alone the current President can say Haitian people are aid inflicted homeless people and we call that a "slow news day."

Tough year full of bad news, but nothing was worse than waking up on a Monday morning to hear that over 50 people were shot to death at an outdoor concert.
 
Hurricanes/Floods - My city, San Jose, was slammed by a huge flood. Also, some satellite images made me remember a movie I saw a long time ago - The Day After Tomorrow.

Sexual Assault - My eyes were opened by the rampant allegations everywhere of sexual harassment/assault (including on this forum)

Net Neutrality - first time I've actually gone to a protest

Day After Tomorrow is one of my favorite movies that deals with climate fiction, but the similarities to the hurricanes are uncanny.
 
On a personal note, worst news was Jan 15, when I learned that my general contractor and friend was murdered along with his female friend.

I chose the mass shootings. I would have said the same thing in 2012 after Sandy Hook. More people died in a single instance at the hands of a single man in both the Las Vegas and the church shootings. Biggest stories of 2017 for me.

I voted for hurricanes/floods, a category that also includes earthquakes, tornados and fires. It seems weather has become very extreme, and we are no match for it.
Other big stories were Charlottesville, Sexual Assault, Russian Investigation. Maybe there is something to learn from those stories, maybe we can change.
 
In my opinion it was either first or last choice.
 
Trump. All of the other stories tie back to him.
