I have family members in London who agree.

According to the Business Insider the royal family costs the taxpayers about 48 million a year. That is equivalent to 3 weeks at Mar Lago for our president.

In exchange they have a contingent of people who work tirelessly for various charities and causes, who travel diplomatically and represent the people of the country in many capacities.

They seem to handle their public commitments with grace and style. I think Prince Charles is rather stuffy, and will not be a popular king. But his sons (Diana's sons) are popular, and have revived an interest in the many contributions that the royal family makes.

We were just in London last week for Christmas (me, husband and our kids). The English seem very excited about Markle and the "new generation" of royals. I think at one time they were unpopular but that seems to be changing. I have to hand it to Queen Elizabeth for embracing a much more modern approach.

No it would be, possibly, probably, an insult to Trump.

And since it "should be" the preference of the bride and groom, then still definitely not.

The fact that England still has a royal family is pretty much the same thing as racism. If I were president I wouldn't even acknowledge people that feel they deserve power as a birthright.

England's royal family is by now just a figure head.
