Should Al Frankey Take-Back his Resignation?

Should Al Franken refuse to actually resign?

I don't care if he resigns or not. the fact he was elected is proof that these votes are popularity contests like in High School, rather than most voters given any coherent thought to the process and issues.

It really doesn't matter as long as we keep electing such people. Another idiot will just replace him.

Only people who have never lived in Minnesota say this stuff about Franken. We know the man better than you do, and you're wrong.

I only got to catch the hot election he had, because I was not a state resident, but due to TV contracts, would get the summer and fall ads. Jesus Christ those campaign ads were negative. I have to give Franken this, though, he was the only serious politician I have seen run an ad that (successfully) made fun of the tone of campaign ads. For those that don't know, that campaign had an ad from Franken in which he was parodying Coleman's ads by saying things like "Al Franken hates (or was it "eats"?) puppies."

Should we maintain a zero-tolerance policy for sexual predators in Congress? or are some predators more equal than others?

I voted no. He has said he would step down. A replacement has already been appointed.

That said, we have a more equal predator in the WH and another on the SCOTUS.

It'll be a moot point after Franken actually resigns.
Its a wee bit hard to back out after his public resignation, a date was publicly revealed, and the Governor announcing who they would replace Franken with.

Only a wee bit, though.

What are they going to do if he doesn't? Short answer? Nothing.
Better question: what's the probability of this hypothetical situation?

No, he should resign. He did a nasty.

George Bush/Dick Cheney never resigned for their war crimes against Iraq and Afghanistan but those ultimate war crimes, as described by Justice Jackson at the Nuremberg War Crimes Tribunals weren't serious like Franken's capital crimes.

Don't care for Franken one iota but this 'me too' stuff is completely out of hand. I'm OK if he stays

'For decades, if not centuries, it has been accepted that, for the
vast majority of men, one way to bed attractive women is to become rich and/or powerful. Likewise, the main
way for women to move up in a company/get hired is to be attractive on her way to the top. These are not
new concepts, and have been just simply accepted for a very long time, even if in a hush hush manner.

Now suddenly people want to change the rules, call the men monsters, and the women 'victims'. I'm not
saying who's right or wrong here..It's not fair to just suddenly change the
rules of the game at this point and call them terrible people.

Almost all of these women complaining about the 'sexual harassment'
from these guys have gotten where they are today by cozying up to guys'

This is wrong-headed.

On a side-note, as we saw in Kansas, women aren't excluded from creating a hostile and toxic work environment.

His replacement is being sworn in after the 1st of the year. It doesn't matter anymore. Let's all move on.

I screwed up and voted yes when I should have voted no. He should resign. We should have a zero tolerance for sexual harassment or sexual assault in congress. For example, my congressional rep, Kevin Yoder (R), skinny dipped in front of staffers in Israel a few years back. Congressman Yoder apologizes for swimming nude in Sea of Galilee | The Kansas City Star

He should resign too. If he worked for a private company and skinny dipped in front of his subordinates while on a business trip he would have been immediately fired. So why is he still in there? They need to clean house with all these jokers.

It would be to the nation's advantage if Franken would remain in office until the senate investigation of the allegations against him are completed and a finding is rendered. By doing so a precedent will be established. We should thus expect no less from other elected officials including Donald Trump.

It would be pretty dumb of him to try and stay now, if your going to fight you do it from a position of power, not weakness.

You already have your answer. Trump isn't resigning, and at last count he had 19 named accusers, and decades of naked teenage girls he bragged about ogling. So yeah, some predators are more equal than others.

And is that the RIGHT thing to do? Or the WRONG thing to do?

I don't consider Franken a predator. He did a dumb thing years back, kissed a woman who didn't want to be kissed, then took a phony "grope" picture in retaliation for the rejection. He apologized to her; she accepted.

These "he touched my hip during the photo" ladies are just background noise. Poppa Bush was a notorious ass patter. I don't consider him to be a predator, despite his sexist attempts at humor.

The RIGHT thing to do is what Franken originally requested, a full investigation by the ethics committee. He was entitled to that; instead he was coerced to fall on his sword to make democrats look like they were the party of women's rights and the scourge of sexual harassers everywhere. It was pure politics. So yeah, I hope he takes back his resignation and insists on the full investigation he is entitled to.

I understand his lack of integrity and ethics by listening to him on radio some time back.

One of the most astute observations about current politics I've seen.

He said he was resigning. He should keep his word if it means anything.

He passed up his chance for a full investigation, which is what he should have decided on, but didn't, and to weasel out now would be another bad decision.

He is of no use to anyone now, it's too late, he cowered too many times.

Plus he is so stupid, surely we can do better.
