That quote came from a well known conservative I admire, wish there more like him. "Liberal" and "Conservative" weren't used as a political identifier in the quote.

All you need to do is look at most threads on here.
Usually near the bottom of the first page or somewhere on the second, you will see the insults, lack of civility, name calling, and "just like Hitler" comments.
There are notable and honorable exceptions to this rule who have the ability to not go there, but they are not the rule.
The rule is....You disagree with me, so therefore you are evil, so anything i do to you and your family is justified.
This will not end well if it continues.
I do feel the 2020 elections will have blood shed at some point.
The pressure is building with no safety valve.

Worst case scenario: people who read in a blog that schools are lowering test standards, giving trophies for losing, being offended as an excuse not to do something, and totally misrepresenting what common core is, and will swallow it all whole.

I'd vote for ignorance, divisiveness, extreme partisanship, and that twenty trillion dollar debt that only matters to whichever party is not in power as the most likely cause of our coming demise.

I would say libertarianism, but there really are not enough libertarians to be much of a threat. So in that case, I would say the best answer is tribalism. People seem to think that those who disagree with them are the enemy, when in truth they are simply the opposition, and want the same basic thing(a better America). This leads to people willing to use any excuse to vilify the other side, while blindly accepting what is done by their side. Little gets done in this environment, there can be no substantive talks, no compromise, no negotiation, because those others are ****ing evil man. In a world that is changing as fast as ours, that is a recipe for failure.

I didn't vote because you didn't have an option listed for the "Widening Gap between the Rich and the Poor and Middle Class". Thomas Jefferson and John Adams warned about this. You see the effects everywhere. Organizations like Donor's Trust, the Heartland Institute, Judicial Watch, and many more, whose entire goal is to desseminate misinformation, with huge multi-million dollar budgets; and paid for by billionaires.

You think so? My generation worked our asses off never complained for hand outs! We didn't get offended over dumb things, we didn't need safe places, we had constant competition and some won, many lost as is the way of life!

Kids today can't even change a flat tire!

hehe...I do, but maybe you don't get mine. It's not just about giving money away, it's participating, either for profit or to help out. What America is missing right now is a general move towards countries working better together. It's going to be a long, complicated, challenging road, but I think it's inevitable. Attempting to lock the door and hide in your house might be comfortable and fun in the short term, but eventually you've got to come out and join the world or face serious consequences...including the possibility of losing your house.

I understand the idea of "we can't look after our own, how are we supposed to look after others"...but I think your ability to look after your own will improve much quicker by joining and playing a part of the global community, vs. walking away from it. Of course, I get that's a bit of a bitter pill to swallow, it probably takes some getting used to, thinking about sharing the top of the hill with the rest of us. But there's room, I promise... :)

Peace is not the goal, justice is the goal. You do not compromise with evil, you destroy it. Preferably via education, or just waiting until old closed minded people go the way of the dodo, but when you know that you are right, you must not be afraid to fight for it, and any sane human being that looks at Donald Trump and his mindless followers can see quite clearly they are disgustingly ignorant people who are on the wrong side of history. There's no making nice with those types of **** heads.

Sorry, but this time it isn't just a little disagreement. The Republican party actually is evil. They actually are Fascists, and they really are eerily close to Hitler. That's not an exageration this time. Anybody who believes that Trump is honest, and the media isn't is delusional and dangerous. When you're electing known pedephiles because you think they are better than a political opponent you are delusional and dangerous.
