let's assume for a second Trump doesn't resign or gets impeached, and completes 1 (or dare I say) 2 terms. Will the next president be a political outsider with no political experience similar to Trump, or is this only a one time social experiment? You have guys like Mark Cuban, The Rock, Mark Zuckerberg, Disney's Bob Iger, and even Kayne West rumored to be possibly running for president in the future. Is it possible that a Trump like scenario could happen again?
The tax bill's side tidbit of allowing nonprofits to participate in politics while receiving charitable contributions, which I believe are still deductible, will pour lots of $$$ into the mix. Could have a big impact and add a lot more pandering.
Personally I think the chaotic nature of this White House will have everyone looking for a more assured politically experienced person. Then we can fight over what color they are, or which judges they will support. Just like the old days.
