LOL!!

Calm down...you might melt.

What makes you think it's Trump's "job" to get those three off the hook?
The fact that it's literally his job. What the **** do you think his job is? Why the **** do you think we have a state department? Defending Americans at home and abroad is the #1 thing he's supposed to be doing. If he had let China violate their rights or subject them to some kind of cruel and unusual punishment he would have been neglegent in his duties.

Tell me...if GWBush had gotten arrested in one of those countries that accused him of war crimes, would you have said it was Obama's job to get him off the hook? Be honest, now...

Yes, it absolutely would have been. Bush was our President, and if we think he's committed war crimes it is our job to impeach him or replace him. In fact I distinctly remember thinking about that exact scenario about 8 years ago. What would happen if some country tried to arrest Bush for war crimes? What would Obama have to do? The answer is that he likely would have had no choice, but to threaten war in order to secure his release. Even if Obama though Bush actually was guilty, and did deserve to be charged, there is no way he could allow for another countries court system to put him on trial.

Yes, I would say that. The state department would definitely be on that one. Good thing it didn't happen. You would have to say nice things about Hillary. If you were honest anyway.

LOL!! Okay, then. I suspect you are a rarity amongst liberals.

Trump very well could have left this up to the State Department...THAT would be him doing his job. He didn't. He took it upon himself to aid the punks. That isn't his job. He went beyond his job to help. The least they could have done is thank him.

I thought I asked you to be honest?

Obama wouldn't have started a war over Bush. He would have been more likely to release a boatload of terrorists.

Under the circumstances, I'm pretty sure a phone call from my dog could have gotten these guys released.

Its just too bad that did not happen.

At this point he probably should have left well enough alone and been excoriated as a racist for not getting them out.

If I ever go to jail for any reason I will be sure to thank whomever gets me out. Thats just basics.

If someone had intervened in sparing me from a 10 year prison term in China, I would be inclined to with great gratitude thank them.

Is Trump now going to intervene every time an American gets arrested in China or elsewhere overseas? Or was this special treatment because these guys are athletes?

Good news boys and girls! The players just got home. They admitted they done wrong and apologized. They thanked Trump and the US government for getting them out of the mess they got themselves into. Is everybody happy?

LOL!!

Yes, he absolutely would have, but that wasn't the question, was it?

You asked me if I would have expected President Obama to secure the release of Bush had he been arrested for war crimes, under the assumption I would not have. You are dead wrong. I would have absolutely expected Obama to do it, and he would have done it because that is exactly what his job is.

Trump is an egomaniac. He always has the need for someone to stroke his ego. The most unpresidential president we have ever had. Trump is an embarrassment. Forget fake news, we have a fake president.

Voters didn't want someone politically correct and they didn't want someone who was presidential and they didn't want someone who was establishment. That's what you guys don't understand.

Furthermore. You don't expect someone to thank you for doing your job. It's your ****ing job. That's what you're hired and paid to do regardless of whether you donate your salary. If someone thanks you for doing your job then that is awfully nice of them, but if you're getting mad at people who don't you're a ****ing d-bag.

What exactly is Trump trying to say here? Would he have left these boys to rot in a Chinese prison if he'd thought they weren't going to say thanks and start voting for him? This is like a guy holding a door open for a pretty girl, and then demanding she go out on a date with him because he made a token gesture that any other guy would have happily done for free.

Trump isn't taking a salary.

If Obama had demanded someone thank him, you guys would have been all over him for it calling him an egomaniac. Don't pretend you care anything about being polite.

Doesn't matter what you think. The fact is that if I had shoplifted in China and been facing a gloomy short term future in Chinese jail and Obama saved my butt, I would have thanked him.

Trump very well could have left this up to the State Department...THAT would be him doing his job. He didn't. He took it upon himself to aid the punks. That isn't his job. He went beyond his job to help.
No, he handled it personally because he knew it would be incredibly easy to do, and he wanted credit for it. That's why he's on twitter demanding they thank him. Just like a guy holding a door open for a pretty girl. It's easy, any idiot could do it, which is why it's absolutely insane for a guy to expect a simple guesture like that to result in a date with the girl.

Please tell me why thanks are in order for Trump doing his ****ing job. Has the bar been lowered so much that anything he doesn't screw up is now deserving a thanks? Gimme a break.

Nobody needs to thank him except for the three players involved.

The fact is that if I had shoplifted in China and been facing a gloomy short-term future in a Chinese jail and Obama saved my butt, I would have thanked him.

But what matters is that President Obama wouldn't have asked you to thank him, and he wouldn't have gotten angry if you hadn't. These boys got in trouble because they behaved like children. Expecting them to then turn around and act like adults is silly. However the President of the United States should always behave like an adult, and not go around demanding others thank him for simple **** he's supposed to do as a part of his job.

Yes, I realize that, but if getting these boys becomes a bargaining chip that requires Trump to give something back now you have a situation where the Chinese become motivated to start randomly arresting Americans in order to improve their bargaining position.

I haven't seen anyone really question the validity of the charges, but you.

Trump isn't taking a salary.

Yes, if you'd read what I said you'd see that I said it doesn't matter if he's donating his salary or not. It's his job, and it's what he was hired for.

Just because his idiot supporters are stupid enough to fall for his donated salary sales pitch doesn't mean it actually matters. Trump saying he'll donate his salary as President is like a ****ty used car salesment telling you he'll throw in a key chain and company t-shirt since you're buying a piece of **** car from him. He knows damn well he's making a **** load of money of of you, and if your dumb enough to think that pitence is a good deal he's happy to get the free advertising from it.

I'm not questioning the validity of THESE charges. I'm saying that if this is viewed as a bargaining chip it may motivate future arrests that are not valid.

Trump just happened to be in China at the time. Otherwise, regular channels would have probably dealt with it, consuming months.

He did it because he was there at the time.

But, but, but, Hillary won the popular vote.
