EWWWW PUMPKIN PIE!!!

Asking cause I just made two amazing ****ing pies, and I got them nice and chilled with a little whip cream on top... oh so good.

Room temp with nellar ice cream on top...:2razz:

Cold with whipped cream on top. Thanksgiving morning pumpkin pie is our breakfast.

I make 4 pies a year, one batch before Halloween, one for Turkeyday. I do it from scratch, except the crust, I don't have the counter space to do it A: and B: the Pillsbury deep dish is quite acceptable.

I make the best Pumpkin pie ever. I make a crust like a graham cracker crust, but I use ginger snaps instead of crackers. Then I use the pumpkin pie recipe on the Libby's canned pumpkin (not the pumpkin pie filling, but plain pumpkin), I substitute half the white sugar with brown sugar and double the amount of ginger. And I NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER use CoolWhip. If I'm going to make the effort of making a pie, I'm taking the 3 minutes it takes to make real whipped cream.

Well get on with your bad self... I've never bothered trying, maybe I will if it's that easy :p I add 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, and sugar is 1/4 white, 1/2 brown, and get that smooooth by beating the eggs and vanilla into the sugar first.

I'd do my own crust, but seriously, my counter space is like teeny atm.

room temp with cold whipped cream on top.. and not some diet lite stuff either.

It was just the picture, didn't see the lite till I posted it, I got the real stuff chilling for later.

I find that pumpkin pie and sweet potato pie are very similar in texture and taste. Serve chilled with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

I like the crust better at room temperature or hot. But the filling is better a little less hot. So I'll take room temp.

Cold with whip cream is best... but I have sometimes eaten a piece hot from the oven when I was in the right mood.

Yeah, I actually like sweet potato pie a little better tho.

i kind of prefer cool over room temp. of course, i only started liking pumpkin pie a year or two ago. before that, i didn't dig it.

It should be served NOW and in large quantity

That's one of the best things about the crumb crust. One bowl (or a food processor if you have one) and a couple of pie pans. Mix up the crust, spread it in one pie pan and then put the other one inside it and press it down to set the crust. Switch the pans and repeat and you're done (just remember to wipe the pans down before baking).

I thought you were from Texas. Texas is supposed to be the South, so why are you eating pumpkin pie instead of sweet potato pie?

I was given a HUbbard squash one time and was wondering what to do with it. A lady at my home group told me that she'd take of it and bring it to group next week. I was expecting squash soup or something like that and instead she turned it into a delicious pie. Definitely not pumpkin, but also REALLY good. I'd even go so far as to say that I think we're all settling for second best when we use pumpkin instead of Hubbard squash.

Uhm, cause sweet'tater pie is bleah. I'm also an Air Force Brat and a Navy Vet, been around the world almost literally and I am allowed to pick and choose. Like tonight? We're having Lumpia. :p
