How much less could you care?
I took your political correctness comment to mean you were against this. Rereading I see that is not the case. Still, those that do oppose it are free to start the Penis Scouts.
No, I'm not against it. Doesn't mean however that I can't recognize that the BSA has been being pushed to accept girls for a very long time now. They've been sued over it, they've been called misogynistic and many other names in the book and bullied for years to accept girls into their organization. All in the name of equality and PCness.
That said, and this is the part where I show my "care", I think that they should now change their name. Boy Scouts isn't exactly a correct name for them anymore. Keeping the name would make it a misnomer.
You do realize this is an action being taken VOLUNTARILY by the Boy Scout organization themselves right?
No court order is making this happen. Nobody is forcing the Boy Scouts to do this.
The Boy Scouts themselves are opening their doors through their own choice.
Bravo to them for being able to operate as they please. Sounds rather American to me.
If you agree with the action/speech it's good and anyone who doesn't support it is terrible, just terrible, but if you disagree with it then it's bad and shouldn't be respected.
So you're suggesting I'm a conservative are you?

I don't care either way.
Combine them might be best.
I'm certainly not going to get all bent over the idea of girls being allowed into Boy Scout troops.
Oh, the horror!
As long as they can keep the "Weblos".
I wasn’t really questioning the reasons for your objection, just the scale of your exaggerated rhetoric in response. Even if you don’t like this idea, I don’t see the justification to be so extreme in your reaction. After all, there are loads of youth organisations, some single sex, some co-ed. Why is just one of those organisations choosing to change such a massive issue? It’s also worth noting that worldwide, Scouting has been moving in this direction for a long time with the US being one of the countries which has been somewhat behind that curve. Like so many things, it's not just about Americans.

The purpose of this is to emasculate the boys and have them wear rainbow shirts and talk about feelings, instead of teaching survival and leadership skills. Maybe they should issue every boy an EZ Bake oven and a ****ing doll house!
So...
Girls allowed in the BOY Scouts...
Is this acceptable?
How about BOYS in the Girl Scouts?
Acceptable?
Toughts?
Combine them...?
WHY?
I think allowing girls to join the boy scouts is the worst of the possible options they could have taken. They should either keep them separate, which I have no issues with. Combine them and have no separate programs, which I'd also be fine with. Or the best solution, create a third program that allows anyone to join and keep the boy scouts and girl scouts as single-gender programs.
Some boys will want to hang out only with other boys. Some girls will want to hang out only with other girls. Some will want to hang out with both. Why not have all three options?
I’d respectfully recommend you stop reading the tabloid trash who select and spin up the kind of stories you’re talking about precisely to rile you up because it keeps you coming back for more. Find some better quality news sources and you’ll get more important news reported in a (somewhat) more honest and reasonable manner. And I must apologies, I have just got off from reading some more of the current happenings.
This story was just one of the ones to tip my cup from full, to overflowing.

Leave 'em. It's good to have them as groups that can address unique issues affecting a given gender of child.
There is already a co-ed group called Adventure Scouts, which is also a good thing to have. I see the merit of both approaches. We don't need to lose one to have the other.
I understand that there are regions where Girl Scouts don't have as many opportunities for what we think of as scouting-type activities (camping, survival skill learning, etc). I was lucky that my region did have that. But if that's the issue, and the main complaint about Girl Scouts, then we need to improve Girl Scouts, not abandon it and let Boy Scouts pick up the slack.
I am perfectly ok with organizations doing what they feel is best for them. I am confused as to why any one would make a big deal out of it...
So much this...
I have no problem with a co-ed group, and such a thing being available is great. But this need to homogenize everything into one particular way that a part of society feels is right needs to stop. Options, choice, freedom of various ideas; this is part of the foundational belief structure of the United States that makes it great. I didn't participate in any of the scout groups (my sister was a Brownie), but I absolutely see value in allowing the Boy Scouts to be the BOY scouts and the same with the Girl Scouts. To allow for a group to do it in a segregated, gender focused away while another group may do it differently.
Really? You don't know why people may make a big deal about something that was potentially a large part of their youth making a pretty radical change?
You....you're a wrestling fan. You can't POSSIBLY be confused about why anyone would make a big deal out of this change, as people get bent out of shape about changes of even less impact as it relates to wrestling because it's a change from how it "was when I grew up". You may not agree with it, but I know you're smart enough to not be confused by it.
