Did NBC fire a reality star after he tweeted and appeared on TV and radio saying that the POTUS was a Kenyan?

Omg... more ****ing politics?

All the bull **** that Trump is saying, and y'all are whining about Jemele Hill? Charlottesville? White supremacy? Everything that is going on, and THIS is what you all are pissed about?

Pot? Meet kettle. You're black.

Oh, and that's not a racist comment for those of you clearly unable to discern the difference.

Well, did they? And yes, this thread is political.

Ms. Hill was spoken to by ESPN. She was using her personal account. She spoke for herself and not on behalf of ESPN.

There is no evidence that NBC spoke to 45. He also used his personal account. He spoke for himself and not in a capacity for NBC.

Jemele Hill’s Politics: 5 Fast Facts You Need toÂ*Know

IMO Jemele Hill is a rebel-rouser. Extremely rude and controversial. ESPN is a sinking shink and has been a giant anchor on Disney. If Disney wants to save face, they should fire Hill, who brings nothing to the table for a Sports Network.

Someone like that shouldn't be employed by a legitimate employer. Her comments on 9/11 for goodness sakes were just hateful and disgusting.

Who?..

You don't know the backstory?

~"This is an example of black people getting away with everything while white people are crucified for the slightest mistake or just telling the truth. This is evidence of the persecution of white people (and men). This proves that black people (and women) get all the breaks, everything handed to them and they are never held accountable especially in the Jew mainstream media."

You gotta know where it's coming from for it to make sense. Of course no one really gives a crap if someone working for espn tweets (private account) "Trump is a nazi". It's a sports network, not even real news. It's not a public representative. But the black female part... well, there's the angle.

WTF does Trump have to do with an ESPN topic?

For **** sakes...

If you don't watch the Press Briefings, I'm sorry but I can't help you...if I explained it you, it appears you would simply likely follow with something that illuminates more ignorance.

do the same for trump ill take that deal

I think she should be fired. What she says is completely uncalled for and offensive.

When did Trump supporters become such snowflakes? I thought they were all about not being politically correct and just being able to speak your mind.

Initially I didn't much care if ESPN fired her (or any of their anchors) or not. They are a private company; they can fire anyone they please so long as they do so in accordance with ESPN's stated policy.

However, when representatives of the damned government start telling private companies who should be fired based on political statements, now we're getting all unconstitutional on their ass. The First Amendment protects a citizen's right to criticize the government or anyone else without governmental interference.

Holding a damned press conference and having a WH spokesperson tell ESPN that their employee should be fired for exercising that constitutionally-guaranteed right is a whole 'nother dimension. Now I hope they give her a raise and a fat new contract, because if she's fired now, she can just call the ACLU and put a lawyer on retainer, because **** just got real.

NBC didn't fire Trump when he was pushing that birther crap either. So, Trump is being an ass about this in more ways than one. But...who is surprised about that?

Should Sarah Sanders be fired for slander, libel or lying to the American public? She speaks for the president when she smears Hill and others who have opposing views against the administration. We pay her salary, after all.

I first saw her last year with her partner & felt a little sorry for her & her partner, as so many sports shows were
on and most of the anchors had name recognition & these two didn't.

Maybe she's trying to make a name for herself but I do think she's going about it the wrong way, even so I don't
think she should be fired. Low Ratings are what should fire people.

I don't see why people let stuff like this get to them. If you don't like what she is saying then don't tune in/read her show/twitter/articles etc. If she pisses off enough people to cause ratings to drop then ESPN will fire her, no point in getting outraged just ignore her if you don't want to hear what she has to say.

Well...if ESPN was consistent, theres no question> They have fired people in the past for expressing their political views. But...since she is a leftists and ESPN is a leftist outfit...why would they fire her?

She has the right to say whatever she wants. ESPN has the right to keep her on. People have the right to not watch ESPN. Life is pretty uncomplicated.

Someone who actually hit the nail on the head for this one.

It has nothing to do with racism, or a private company like ESPN firing an employee based on that employee breaking a rule. It's about government overreach and the President calling for a private citizen to be fired over political speech??? WTF? This is some kind of bizarro land?

ESPN should do what ever ESPN thinks is right........errrrr left!

If they loose sponsors, her phony righteousness will be out on the street.

ESPN stopped being about sports 10-12 years ago.

Gays were shot and islam was held responsible for this mass shooting,he is telling the truth...America is famous for its mass shootings but an American citizen who is muslim causes such accusations about all muslims!!

On someone else's dime? NO...

If she was paid to be a political commentator like Maddow or Limbaugh, yeah, she would be fine.

If she is paid to report or comment on sports? Not so much, but that's ESPN's call.

Why would this not be about politics? She is throwing shade at Trump.

Because that is all some can focus on...

The topic is what Jamele said... not what the press briefings say.

"...ESPN, which has veered further into programmed shows heavy on debate and opinion, has empowered, if not directed, its hosts to be provocative on subjects beyond sports, especially culture and society. Some of the opinions have brought sharp and widespread criticism, and the network has struggled to find a consistent approach in responding..."

I think ESPN likely hired Jemele for her opinions on other issues besides sports...and because the station is located in Conneticut they can't legally fire her for her opinions, anyway. Jamele not only has the constitution on her side, she also has state law.

Trump telling ESPN to fire Jemele is government infringment on free speech.

Reporters are expected to maintain a modicum of decorum, and if a reporter crosses the line set by an employer -- that employer has every right to terminate the reporter.

Actually, it's quite common.

She's a journalist and was hired to give her opinions on a range of topics, not just sports.

Connecticut has a state law that says employers can't fire someone for exercising their first amendment rights. So in this case, no...the employer doesn't have the right to terminate her. If you want to know more about it then read the link I provided.
