The term white privilege dates back to the time of slavey and segregation. It had to do with the attitude of the original Democrats, who justified the owning of slaves and who felt that had the right to segregate them after they were free. These Democrats saw themselves as above the blacks, with a semi-divine power of kings.
Rather than face up to their shady past, the Democrats are trying to rebrand this term onto the party of Lincoln who did none of these things, but rather fought for equality for blacks. This rebranding is evident in the protests over the rebel flag and statues of southern civil war heroes. The bottom line is all of which were Democrats or connected to the Democrat party. It is a revisionist history scam that the Democratic base thinks belongs to the Republicans. Their base is not very smart since they are governed by emotions instead of rational thinking
As far as I know, the Democratic party, who owned the slaves and were responsible for segregation laws, never made direct restitution. What they have attempted to do is spread out their party's sins and obligation, onto those who helped the slaves. White privilege is now being rebounded with a broad pen, that is designed to obscure the differences between the slave owning Democrats, and the pay forward works of the Republicans.
How about quotas laws for the blacks, where only white Democrats have to participate as the bottom dog. They can pay back the original sins of their party. The party of Lincoln has already paid forward with hundred of thousands of live and countless acts of unity. They have no further obligation until the Democrats catch up.
