In that FB post he clearly states he endured an 'ordeal'. That makes him a victim. Recuse yourself idiot and save some face.

The officers did nothing wrong. I've been stopped for the same reason given to this black guy and I'm white. The police would be derelict if they did not investigate anyone resembling the description.

I was pulled over because I matched the description of a man who had just helped an inmate escape from a jail. I was terrified but once the officers explained I was okay with there action.

I don't want officers to be afraid to investigate anyone they have suspicions about. If you are innocent you have nothing to worry about other than an inconvenience.

But please tell me what would anyone be doing carrying a crowbar through a residential neighborhood at night? If they have a reasonable explanation they have nothing to worry about. If not then they were probably looking for a place to burgle.

This judge was carrying a stick? Why? I mean seriously. That is a stereotype if I ever heard one. He was carrying a stick for God's sake. Do you carry a stick around with you when you walk through your neighborhood?

I think the officers had a good reason to stop him and question him about the weapon he was carrying.

I am fine with all that, what I am not fine with is the operating under the assumption that someone we picked as a judge will not judge the police department or officers correctly because he did a facebook rant after a traffic stop.

I'm going to say no. From what I read the judge didn't make a post about police in general. He was posting about his specific stop regarding those specific cops.

"In an abundance of caution" and "We must avoid even the appearance of impropriety" like here is a joke at this point given how corrupt this society is, and how little interest there is in that corruption, from all but notatably from the so-called justice system.

We both know those phrases were just tossed in their to cover their own asses should something happen after all of this.

Should this judge be removed from this case? His FB post reveals his own personal experience with the police department in the case. Can he be an impartial judge of a case of such gravity?

It just opens the door to appeal. The judge should recuse himself to limit additional cost to the courts and the state.

It has turned into a failure to care about the right things.....this thread reminds me of a Bar Rescue episode I watched probably years ago where the owner counted the register money every couple of hours to "make sure it was all there"......that is to say that the money matched what the tape said it should.......totally not seeing that his employees were giving away over $1,000 in booze every night (trading for tips mostly).....they were pouring these drinks right in front of him.

"Arent we just so perfect...we go the extra mile for you!" as the courts routinely fail to do anything about the abuse and rot and non functioning of this society.

I'm not saying we need to burn the system down, and start again.

But it could surely stand for a soft restart on some fronts.

Does it not bother you that these very same super conscientious system minders who tell us that a judge can not be trusted because he did a facebook rant after a traffic stop did not notice for decades that crimelab experts were lying about what they knew to hammer citizens, that they do nothing about the vast amount of DA abuse we have, that they are not bitching about the very poorly written laws the Legislatures keep handing them and so on and so forth?

I mean come on, when I can see how poorly the important things are done and then I watch this pious display I can be fairly curtain that I am being played.

We are being played, its called the system for a reason.
I've seen more then a few people abuse the system to get off on technicalities that basically never existed, until the defense gives a voice to it. It boarders on the line of getting a manslaughter charge, which has multiple degrees that one can be found guilt. Only for your attorney to invent their own classification for a lower degree then what you are being charged for.

I've seen manslaughter 2 get off with a diminished capacity claim, and a plea for time served. Not to mention the stuff that goes down in usual court settings, the only reason we are hearing about this is because of the current political climate.

It is a massively abused system, but no one is wiling to jump in to fix it, just like with the majority of our other systems.
