I rarely see those confederate flags you seem so obsessed with, and I live in the deep south.

Yet, when I have to drive through Bell, or South Gate, or Huntington Park, or Compton, or Santa Ana, or Pico Rivera, all cities in Southern California, the National flag of Mexico is flying everywhere, especially during Soccer matches when Mexico is playing.

When the US Team is playing, where are the US Flags?

I voted no.

The issue is with the parents. They knowingly came into the United States illegally, knowing at any time they could be caught, and deported, causing disruption and harm to their families.

Isn't it interesting how the parents were the ones that knowingly and continually broke the law and they aren't the ones being blamed for the issue? That it's the mean white people who are trying to enforce the laws that have been on the books this entire time?

Do you support DACA (deferred action for childhood arrivals) aka "dreamers"?

It'd have way less of an issue with making a one time exception if we had a system in place to stop it (I know nothing is 100% but significantly reduce) from happening again in the future. If not, you're just going to keep having the same problem happen again and again.

Secure our border and then provide a one time deal for those already in.

When those in charge of enforcing the law either ignore or reward those that break the law is it any wonder that the law gets broken? DACA/DAPA are just that - a reward for those that broke the law and had that fact ignored (so far). "Dreamers" were, indeed, created by congress critters (most of which are white) by purposely not allowing (funding) enforcement of immigration law.

It is simply ridiculous to expect a force of about 5K federal ICE agents (about the size of the Boston, MA and Baltimore, MD police forces combined) to patrol the entire US interior and enforce immigration law. When even the US military hires "illegal" aliens then it is hard to blame folks for deciding what the real US immigration policy is.

Yep. I lived in Southern California for over 20 years. I saw many more Mexican flags there then I have seen confederate flags here. And I have been here now for 28 years. Even in the redneck communities they are fairly rare. And a disproportionately large number of southerners have fighting under the American flag in places like Afgnanistan and Iraq. The left is just attempting to start a culture war.

IMO, the left isn't attempting, they've declared it.

Then you're blind or lying. You can't drive down the street in Texas without seeing a dozen trucks with big confederate flags on them. Drive through a trailer park and you'll see even more.

I fully support DACA and hope it stays at is. I am sure someone can provide a couple examples of some bad ones in the bunch but I think the majority are assets and I stand by them.

This is a bipartisan subject and even conservatives who are known to be tough on immigration see the benefit the dreamers bring to our country.

I fully support DACA. In my opinion, anyone who understands the program as you have kindly outlined it SHOULD support it. I also completely support Trump throwing into Congress which is where it belonged in the first place.

The media would do a great service for this country if, every time they discussed it, they also outlined the details as you've done here. Unfortunately, the media, just like Congress, thrives on divisiveness.

I don't think a functioning Congress should tie any other matter to its passage. But, again, unfortunately, Congress also thrives on divisiveness.

If I were Trump, I would use the bully pulpit to drum up support, and those who would STILL be opposed should be ignored.

It's simply the right thing to do.

So blame Children for the Parents

Were you in control of who gave you birth?

If I take my kids to the local mall to see the Easter Bunny and I cut in front of all of the other kids waiting to see the giant rabbit and put my kids at the front of the line, do I blame the kids? No. But do they get to stay at the front of the line? A simple "Yes" or "No" answer will do. Thank you. :2wave:

Well sport, I do not live in Texas however I suspect that you are the one stretching the truth. I have been driven all the way across Texas on two occasions and seen no more then a half dozen confederate flags. on each trip.

Both Mexico and the Confederacy are foreign nations that fought against America and used to own large swathes of the south. Yet you guys only seem to be throwing a hissy fit about one. Hrm... I wonder what the difference could be.

Try respecting the freedom of Americans to wave whatever piece of fabric they want, not just the white ones.

If the children of foreign parents, who broke the immigration laws get a free pass, should the children of American citizens get a "get out of jail free card"? These children can redeem this for any crime they commit.

The problem with DACA can be seen with a parallel experiment which could be run. Say Nancy Pelosi was having a high stakes fun raiser at an exclusive club in San Francisco. This is a very fancy and high brow club, to which many people would love to belong, but who are not invited due to social status. It is all about money and who you know.

A local middle class family, with their children in tow, decide to break in and crash the party, since they wish to belong. They have dreams too. Once in the club they don't break anything, except have a snack at the buffet. If discovered, would Nancy Pelosi invite them to stay; give amnesty, or would she call in the club's border security to escort them out? What of the poor defenseless children who were brought to the party? Would they be treated to a free meal and giving all the privileges of the high brow paying guests? Will they get a free membership to the club, just for breaking in? If so who others try the same thing?

The way many social give aways work is everyone is generous with other people's money; tax money. But if asked to put their money where their mouth is, they become different. Maybe we can add an extra tax to just registered Democrats, so they can pay for DACA. Those who are against it, dont have to pay that tax. Everyone gets what they say they want.

So you are supporting foreign nationals who have invaded the country illegally, and only show support for the country they are invading from.

How about you show some respect for those who died to create this country, and gave you the right to encourage those invaders who would tear this country.

As an Executive Order, no. If passed by congress in some form, yes. The Constitution give the power, authority over immigration and naturalization to congress, not the executive branch in Article I, section 8.

As an American I can have any opinion I choose, and as a veteran who served his country, I'm immune to your pathetic attempts to associate your personal viewpoints with "those that died for our country". Our country was founded on immigration, both legal and illegal, and I'm not going to pretend that a few brown people showing up to my country is ruining my life. Which makes me wonder, why are YOU so emotional about this issue? Were you raped by an illegal immigrant?

Perhaps your shortcomings in life are your fault and not the fault of random people you've never met trying to make a better life for themselves.

Where do you see me expressing anger over Mexican flags. Myself and another poster were only making a point after your ludicrous claims regarding confederate flags.

Who was right?

He would sign it. He already said if congress fails he will revisit the issue (he doesn't want a hard deadline). I believe this is a push for legislation, not a push to eliminate DACA. I expect congress will pass the DACA with a border security rider.

Democratic leaders Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosi said following a Wednesday night meeting with President Donald Trump that they have "agreed" to a fix on DACA and resolved iron out a border-security plan -- "excluding" the US-Mexico border wall that was one of Trump's most memorable campaign promises.

In an optimistic statement following the White House meeting, Schumer and Pelosi said the parties had "agreed to enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that's acceptable to both sides."

"We had a very productive meeting at the White House with the President," they said.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders pushed back on that assessment: "While DACA and border security were both discussed, excluding the wall was certainly not agreed to."

But a person briefed on the meeting said that the President and the Democratic leaders agreed to legislatively pair the bipartisan DREAM Act with some border security, excluding the wall.
