Simple question, poll to follow.

Of course they deserve funding. I am not sure how someone can say no.
You're unsure of how some would oppose aid to Trump supporting, Republican voting, gun toting, red state Texas?
Would it be different if the state were say California, and instead of a flooding it was a massive earthquake?
With Texas now having to deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, lawmakers there will be looking for federal disaster aid - after they voted against a crucial aid package for New Jersey and New York following Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

I don't think so. Actually, I expect a pretty lop sided poll but there have been some references to letting us figure this out on our own. Not common to be sure, but some.
Democrats and rational Republicans don't vote against federal disaster relief; the Texas delegation does ...
Of course Texas should get federal aid; Congress should have been called back into session already this week to handle this epic crisis; schools around here will have 3 weeks in before this latest congressional vacation;
Democrats and rational GOPs would have already passed emergency relief; except that GOP Rep. Hensarling of TX is already further muddying the waters of Harvey ...
Democrats, however, have delayed funding a wall which our country is desperate - particularly California, Texas, and Arizona are in badly of a need of.

Eh, sometimes the immediate politicization of everything is a real drag, but I'm nobody to be casting stones. I'd probably do the same if the roles were reversed. This is a little close to home. It's affected people I know, not just in Houston but as far as Austin and San Antonio as well, so I cannot be dispassionate about it but indulging in useless hostility doesn't do anybody any good.

Is this a fishing expedition to find some asshole who says "no" and then whine about how those meanyface liberals are mean to conservatives?

Yeah, the "poor little us, fuck everyone else" card really doesn't play very well. Yes, I want the feds to help people in Texas who have suffered so much in this storm. I just wish people in Texas actually gave a damn about those in NJ and NY, which they clearly didn't.
What goes around, comes around. When an entire state doesn't give a fat flying fuck outside of its borders, it's pretty difficult to muster the "OMG what a tragedy" for those same people who mocked, ridiculed and dismissed the tragedy of other states simply because the inhabitants of those states were not Texans.
