Do any of you still read the newspaper? I don't mean going to the paper's website--I mean reading a physical, printed copy.

Only if I accidentally come across one somewhere, unexpectedly, and have nothing better to do at the time.

No. I don't ever remember reading a physical newspaper with any regularity.

Only if there is one in the waiting room.

Actually, I had a Group on subscription to the Sacramento Bee for a few weeks. But I got kicked out of the comments for being conservative. On the bright side, I monkeyed with my cookies so I'm on my fifth identity in comments. They kept delivering, and I was afraid I was going to be charged for it, so I threatened them with a restraining order if they didn't stop sending it. Some English speaker called me and assured me I would not be charged... so the Commie Pinko Rag is still coming... LOL

I stockpile some in my shop, and every once in a while I notice that pork chops were on sale at Kroger three months ago.

Calling them newspapers is a bit generous (more accurately, they're tabloids), but I see them strewn about the Tube on occasion, so sometimes I'll skim the front if I'm on an especially long and boring trip.

But the last time I actually read an actual newspaper was when I was on one, a number of years ago. Outside of professional necessity, I've honestly never really read newspapers. By the time I was coming of age to be aware of the news, online sources were starting to develop in a meaningful way, and I was just naturally compelled to look online instead, being of a younger gen.

The only significant non-professional interaction I've ever had with newspapers was reading the funnies in the early 90's, before I was old enough to be able to parse the actual articles.

Sundays. Mostly for the crossword.

Occasionally read it. I may get a subscription for local news as it seems harder to get local news info.

It's probably been 10-15 years since I last picked up a newspaper. Longer for a news magazine. I received the American Legion and VFW magazines, but most I just scan through them if that. Now I do still read a lot of books, I mean both hard cover and soft cover books. I can't stand kindle or any electronic form of books. I must have the paper version.

I have not read a Newspaper in probably 18 years or so. I use them now to line my birds cages.

Only if someone has left one lying around on a train, or at my doctor's office.

The WSJ is the only paper I'd even consider buying, and that doesn't occur with much regularity.

Greetings, Pero. :2wave:

Me, too! I just prefer books! I gave a brand new Kindle I had just purchased to my neighbor's 15-year-old son when the one he was using went to Kindle Heaven! His mom had told me that he was doing all kinds of odd jobs around the neighborhood to earn the money to buy a new one, and when I gave him mine, you would have thought that Christmas had come early - I'll never forget how happy he was!

Edit: That former "young boy" is entering a local college in a few weeks with the goal of earning a degree in Information Technology some day. Good for him! :applaud

Howdy Pol, Good kid. I suppose most of the young think paper is old fashioned. Well, that is one advantage of being old, one can be old fashioned and fit right in.

Yes, I always but a newspaper on my way to the farrier. And then while I wait for my sundial to be repaired I like to do the crosswords.

Greetings, Phys251. :2wave:

I voted "Other" because I only get a Sunday paper for three reasons - 1. I get all the daily news I can handle on here; 2. it's the only time that all the comic pages are in color, and I do enjoy my comics; and 3. it has all the ads where every company advertises their sales for the coming week, from food and everything else, which I try to read while having coffee for an hour!.

My grandparents and their brothers and sisters had the newspaper delivered.

All of their children, including my parents, had the newspaper delivered.

I had a newspaper route as a young teen.

I have always had the newspaper delivered.

All of my children have the newspaper delivered.

We live better than 88% of America. In other words, we are all comfortable. My grandparents and all of their brothers and sisters went to college, and so forth and so on to my children.

If you are truly literate, you are very likely to live a good life.

Whenever I go shopping at the mall I pick up the "Wall Street Journal", the "NY TIMES" and the "Star-Ledger." I scan these while waiting on long lines; also, inside the car while my husband is driving.

I tried for months to get back into the Sunday NYT's, but had to abandon the effort because of aggravating suckage.

No, I think I've read a newspaper a handful of times in my entire life. It's a dying medium.

I subscribe to three physical newspapers and subscribe to a dozen online. I also work in executive management for a company that owns newspapers. While many think the newspaper is something of a bygone era, we deliver over 120k on Sunday. Let that press be late and our phone rings off the hook with people who miss reading their Sunday paper before church.

Voted other
We get one at work so I read it there. Its a rag and no one really likes it but its the only one that we can get delivered so we are stuck with it or nothing at all. Best part is the crosswords.
