Based on the horrible choice of candidates lately, I think I'll run as a write-in presidential candidate in 2020. Then in the ever so slim chance I win, the 1st thing I will do is impeach myself!

Trump is not going to be impeached or resign. The only thing that would prevent Trump from running for a 2nd term is if he dies of old age or is assassinated.

I agree that all of those outcomes are very unlikely. But I also think it's a legitimate possibility that Trump could choose not to run again. Trump is the oldest person to enter the office of president. It seems like neither he nor his advisers seriously expected to win the election. They didn't have good plans in place for what to do after winning, and they've all had a deer in the headlights look for the last few months. He's not having an easy time of things, even with his party in control of both houses of congress. He's mentioned a couple times to reporters that he's not enjoying the job. And judging by how much time off he's taking, it seems like all the stress is taking a toll on him. I think all those factors added together point to a guy who might decide not to run for a second term.

Again How many times has that happened to a first term president in our 200 plus years of having presidents? 3 or 4 times?Maybe slightly more than that?

What has that got anything to do with whether it will happen or not? If you're realistic at all, the Republican establishment, who hate Trump, might very well field a candidate in the primaries. Whether that person would win or not is a different story.

If historically the vast majority of first term presidents seek another term, then logic would dictate that Trump would do the same.

I am being realistic.
1.History shows that the vast majority of presidents run for a second term. So there is no reason to think he would not run for a 2nd term.

2.A lot of the establishment might hate Trump but they would rather their party win than to lose to a democrat. Its why a lot of them voted for Trump in the first place after he won the primary. Party-tards in both parties do that. Party before values.

Trump is a narcissist. I don't think his ego would let him give up on a 2nd term.

Probably the same vote I cast in 2016 - none of the above

If the 2020 presidential election were held today, who would you vote for?

I would vote against trump if Bush the jr was the only person running against him.

I voted for not Trump and not Hillary the last time around, but it didn't do me any good.

Yep. The selection of people running President is getting worse each election cycle.

It would depend on who that generic Democrat is, at this point all I would entertain is Joe Biden.
There are lots more republicans who could still fire up the moderates/anyone else who isn't a Trump supporter.
Kasich being the top dog right now.

Every day Trump steps in it. There are those of us who believe that this has been the worst week of his Presidency/any Presidency in History and it's only been six months! I doubt he lasts until 2020

I don't know about you. But I would rather lose by voting for someone I agree with and has a history of standing by those views than to win by voting for someone I do not trust.

More than likely Trump will run for a second term and also more than likely someone will challenge him in the primaries. There is no shortage of possibilities from the far right like Cruz to moderates such as Kasich. If I were you I wouldn't make any bets. I'm certainly not going to.

Probably Gary Johnson. Win or lose, I can't imagine voting for someone I don't actually agree with on most issues.

You want to feel that Johnson again, eh?

Gary Johnson is done for. The Libertarian party needs new blood. Johnson is a perennial loser and with an election where both major party candidates were the most unpopular in history, Johnson couldn't even crack double digits. He didn't even come close.

Well if someone else gets the Libertarian nomination, I'll take a look at their platform.

Those of us where not Trump-tards thought Trump wasn't going to win the primary and wasn't going to win the general even against someone as lousy as Clinton.
